Find Freedom with the Three Powers of the Serenity Prayer

light-candle-buring-in-celebration-and-spirit-meditation-picture-id1004928324 Find Freedom with the Three Powers of the Serenity Prayer

This week’s Goddess message that jumped out at me was the goddess Sophia who represents Divine Wisdom. Her archetypal meaning refers to the wisdom that doesn’t come from integrated human experience, rather the wisdom given to us directly from Source- a higher wisdom, a higher ground from which to see that is greater than our human experience. So how do we access this, and what does it mean for us, when we do?

After this intense Scorpio Full Moon weekend, we’re offered a new beginning where we have time to integrate what we’ve learned keeping in mind what is ours to shift and also what is not ours. Divine Wisdom refers to how we manage our expectations and projections, and what we make things mean. Can we break through the illusion and surrender to what truly is?

Of all the prayers that best illustrates this is the Serenity Prayer.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

If we look at this prayer in three parts, the first part is about surrendering to a Higher Power, acknowledging that we are seeking peace and help to radically accept what is in front of us and to recognize when we are powerless.

Activate The Healing Power of Stillness

caribbean-yoga-woman-picture-id182197369 Activate The Healing Power of Stillness

When was the last time you took time to really be still, perhaps through meditation or conscious breathing?

With so much chaos and distraction in our lives, it can be beyond tough to find time to be still and connect to a peaceful center. Between hectic work schedules and endless to-do lists, and the fixation with social media, many of us barely have a chance to come up for air.  Sure, you want to make time to be still and meditate, but it just gets lost in the shuffle and before you know it, it’s bedtime and you’re too exhausted. Without taking time each day for stillness, our minds become chatterboxes and we lose ourselves in our busy lives listening to a barrage of mindless noise.

We’ve all had this experience of resolving to find the time to meditate, but then it just keeps moving down the priority list. Has this happened to you?

So, take a deep breath and keep reading. Today I’m going to help you get on the road to more stillness without missing out on your to-dos.

Have the Courage to Take Intuitive Leaps of Faith

woman-jumping-over-abyss-picture-id927775738 Have the Courage to Take Intuitive Leaps of Faith

This week’s Goddess Power Oracle card reading encourages us to move forward into places where we may be inexperienced, and the Goddess Hecate comes forward with a message that helps us trust that the path for our growth will be illuminated along the way.  This kind of trust as we move into the unknown often requires that we take a leap of faith.

So how would your life transform if you were able to trust more in your ability to move into unknown territory and took more intuitive leaps of faith?

Maybe you’d like to make a career change, move to a new state or country, move forward with a relationship, or ask someone out on a date. Your intuition is telling you to have the courage and go for it. Yet, your ego, insecurities, and even the people around you may be giving you a whole list of reasons why you shouldn’t make a change. Which guidance do you follow?

Laughter & Humor Really Are the Best Medicine

robinbird Laughter & Humor Really Are the Best Medicine

One thing about a seasonal change is, well, change! On our farm, we have become hosts to various nests – owls, sparrows, robins and more. We have a mated pair of coywolves who have made a den in the ravine and all manner of other creatures including some very bold raccoons seem to think it’s ok to stroll past our house in broad daylight like they own the place and we don’t count. Now thankfully, we have a ten-foot fence around the back of the compound so my teeny Pomeranians don’t get eaten, but I always have to go out with them and supervise just in case the pair of red-tailed hawks that hang out in the trees decide they look like snacks. This morning I went out with the fluff balls and stood under a new robin’s nest (or should I say condo) that she skillfully built right above the door and whose occupant decided to poop on my head. I was so upset for a moment I could not believe I had to change my clothes since I had an interview online and fix my hair yadaydaya!! But I stopped pretty quickly and I just had to laugh! Bird poop is not the end of the world and if I had to go on right away I could have pretended it was toothpaste HA!

Never a dull moment at Zen Farm.

This week’s Goddess Power Oracle reading is all about having a sense of humor around our revelations brought into light by the symbolism of the Goddess Yhi. It’s asking us to really trust that our new beginnings are called new for a reason. New means we might not know how, or might need to learn something, might not know the steps, etc. We are brimming with potential this week, says Cerridwyn, but this is all uncharted if it’s new, so how can we expect ourselves to have all the answers, know the steps, given that new doesn’t mean familiar or “the same as before”.

Look for the “Good Eggs” in Life!

birds-nest-picture-id528562878 Look for the “Good Eggs” in Life!

This calendar week has always been special to me and to my family. The Easter holiday was always the herald of a new beginning and that something sacred and beautiful was shared in my home. It was a time for peace, reconciliation, and one where everything felt like we were all getting a second chance. I don’t have one bad memory of this time of year (unlike Christmas, which took me years to heal my inner Scrooge and fear of holiday crazy).

And, to top it off, I was raised to celebrate 2 Easters in a row! These were the western Christian holiday, as we were raised as Anglicans, and then another one the next weekend as my Dad celebrated the Serbian Orthodox traditions, which followed a different calendar.

And, although these are supposed to be religious holidays, we were also all painting eggs and hunting for chocolate from the Easter Bunny!!

So this year Easter came late since it is always held the Sunday after the full moon that followed the March equinox. And since the full moon happened literally right after the equinox- here we are!

How To Have The Courage To Shine (Even When Fear Tells You To Be Small)

naturally-beautiful-and-fit-woman-outdoors-picture-id530831902 How To Have The Courage To Shine (Even When Fear Tells You To Be Small)

The Goddess Metis has a strong and powerful message inherent in her archetypal nature that encourages us to heal some of our self-sabotaging behaviors this week. But, before I focus in on her, I’m going to break down the storyline of the energetic umbrella over all our heads this week to reveal the invitation that was revealed in the weekly forecast.

This week’s universal energy reading begins with the energy of the goddess Mnemosyne, goddess of memory and mother of the 9 muses (of course Zeus, that ol’ horndog was the dad) in the Greek pantheon. She begins by inviting us to look to the past to discover the roots of our patterns, the things we learned and integrated that either support us or bury us in a mire of self-limiting beliefs and behaviors or supportive and positive ones. What story are you telling yourself and others about your past? Can you see your old story play out in front of you? We are memory based creatures and what we remember consciously or store beneath our waking mind rules our lives in ways many of us find baffling. But she arrives to remind us that, to make a shift, we need to tell new stories.

Make Loving Yourself A Sacred Ritual

beautiful-young-girl-is-wearing-casual-clothes-having-rest-in-a-with-picture-id910206946 Make Loving Yourself A Sacred Ritual

This week’s goddess that stood out for me in our universal energy forecast is the Greek goddess Demeter. I’m on the ocean right now with medium John Holland for our cruise, and I plan on going to the spa this week and swimming in the ocean when we stop, something I have not done in a while. When I am true to my self-care plan I take regular Himalayan salt baths, meditate, spend very little time on personal social media and do a regular inventory of my thoughts feelings and beliefs. Do you have a special way to self-care? A ritual? Are you faithful to it?

Self-nurturing is so important with my busy schedule, and if I forget, or say yes when I need to say no, I regret it. Here on this beautiful ocean one would think it’s a vacation for me, but it’s work and so I’m also aware of the needs of my students here and why they came. So if I don’t take care of me, I won’t be able to serve at my highest capacity, and I may fall prey to want to rescue someone in pain. Most healers and practitioners of the intuitive arts are driven by Demeter’s energy and that makes us good at what we do, but we need to be careful and self-aware and know where the boundary lies.

Plant the Seeds of Your Intention on the New Moon

crescent-moon-on-twilight-sky-picture-id154948874 Plant the Seeds of Your Intention on the New Moon

As we approach the new moon this week it’s an auspicious time to focus on setting new intentions. Ancient farmers, who followed the cycles of the moon, traditionally planted seeds in the earth during the new moon. The lunar gravity, which is strongest at the new moon, pulls water up through the soil which helps seeds swell with moisture and aids them in bursting open to germinate new life.

For us, when the moon is at its darkest and beginning a new cycle, its energy encourages us to align ourselves with new growth as well. It’s a time to go inward and contemplate what we will manifest in our lives. While the full moon is often celebrated as a time to circle and make use of its power, it is all about release and letting go of that which no longer serves us, while the new moon helps us begin something new and invites to co-create with fresh energy.

Aptly, in the 4-card Universal reading this week, the first card is Skuld, the Norse Goddess of the Future. Her name means “she who is becoming”. She is the youngest of the three Norns, or Fates, who weave each person’s destiny into the tapestry of time. She shapes the future. She comes to show us that we have a small moment in time this week where we get a glimpse into our future, to see what is possible for us. The Universe is sending signals, signs, and omens that remind us that all things are possible. These flashes of insight can become potent moments of inspiration for us.

See With New Eyes

bluebird See With New Eyes

March 20th marked the Spring Equinox and the ushering in of spring in the northern hemisphere! After the quiet introspective season of winter, the earth seems to suddenly come bursting back to life. Everything feels new as the cycle begins again.

I live in a very rural area, so I have very few human neighbors, but I do have a front row seat to nature. Without looking at a calendar I can see the cycles of life right outside my window, and this week my animal neighbors were telling me that spring is here!

I’ve been watching birds calling to each other as they build their nests. I also watched a pair of coy-wolves (a coyote-wolf hybrid) roaming my property, looking for the perfect den. It makes me happy knowing that in just a few short weeks new life will be surrounding me, little eyes will be opening and seeing their world for the first time. Whether they are walking around on wobbly legs or trying their wings out, they are in a complete space of not knowing what their world will be but moving forward with curiosity anyway. It’s a great reminder for us to always look at the world with the curiosity of a child, without all the judgment of our past experiences to cloud up our vision.

Let Go To Birth New Magic

spring Let Go To Birth New Magic

This week we enter a new phase of our world as the spring equinox welcomes new life in the northern hemisphere. Regardless if you are in the north or south it is a signal that the season before is dying so a new one can be born.

In the 4 card universal reading this week we have the first card symbolizing this death – the goddess Morrighan who features prominently in Celtic and Welsh mythology specifically in the sacred text of Welsh legends – The Mabinogion (I tend to mispronounce this since it makes me feel like I have a mouth of marbles, but I do know it is Mab-In-OH-Gee-On, and I am practicing, lol).

How To Manifest The Change That You Really Want

magic-moment-picture-id531473774 How To Manifest The Change That You Really Want

In my weekly Oracle Card reading, in which I explain some of the really dynamic myths and messages from the Goddess, I also highlight a common theme that we are all experiencing. We are all in a rebirth period right now. This is an amazing time right now of change and evolution. Yet, as we pass through the different stages of change, there can often be a time of contraction where the change gets uncomfortable.

When we endeavor to make changes we have the excitement and energy of new intentions driving us. Yet, when we bump up against detours and challenges, and the intentions that we set to manifest do not come to fruition exactly as we thought they would, it can be disheartening.

Have you ever set an intention to manifest something, then felt discouraged when it didn’t show up the way you’d hoped?

Call on Kali to Cut the Ties That Hold You Back

goddessKali Call on Kali to Cut the Ties That Hold You Back

This week is the beginning of Mercury retrograde in the dreamy mystical sign of Pisces calling up opportunities to redo and revisit some of our leftover internal “stuff from the past”. I am one of those irritating people who loves the retrogrades because I’ve always seen how I can improve and shift my life if I don’t avoid them. If you work it right, you will slow right down, calm down, stop caring if planes are late or if your address book got erased and do the work required.

I see Mercury retrograde in Pisces visually. So, stay with me here and imagine a scene from the movie Moonstruck with Cher and Nicolas Cage when he babbles at her about how much he loves her the morning after they sleep together and she slaps him and yells, “SNAP OUT OF IT!” at him.

I kinda see the Goddess Kali the same way. You can’t BS yourself at all when she is called on to enter the picture. Got a resentment you’re nursing like it’s your new demon baby? Kali will help you cut the ties to your obsession and cut the crap and get accountable for your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors.

Take a Spiritual Selfie & Lessons from the Goddess Green Tara

greentara Take a Spiritual Selfie & Lessons from the Goddess Green Tara

This week I am spotlighting the Tibetan goddess Green Tara. When I was searching for a goddess to bring us a message this week, I wanted to find one from Tibet since it was at a Tibetan temple in Toronto that I first learned to take meditation seriously 33 years ago. My spiritual practice in the early days was greatly influenced by my experience with Tibetan Buddhism.

There are many aspects of the goddess Tara (many colors too!) but Green Tara is my favorite because in this aspect known as “she who saves” she represents the enlightened activity of us when we recognize that we can’t do life by ourselves. We need each other and we need to be in a relationship with one another, without being in a codependent trap, as highlighted by the goddess Demeter in the alignment position in this week’s reading. As a goddess, Green Tara is very loving and inclusive and is known to be everyone’s best friend especially when you really need one. Inherent in that friendship is the kind of salvation we often think has to come from someone who rescues us.

Use Oracle Cards to Empower Yourself

oraclecardmaya Use Oracle Cards to Empower Yourself

Let’s talk about how we co-create reality in partnership with the Universe and the most important step of manifestation- surrendering the results and the attachment to form.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about life (as I do in the early months of every year). I find winter a season of dreaming and taking inventory, sometimes going deep into the darker parts of my life, the womb, to see what I might birth consciously into the world. I wonder in awe some days about how I got here doing what I do and how different it was from what I was convinced I wanted. If you look at your life and see how far you’ve come, are you living the life you wanted on the outside, and/or are you loving life from the inside?

This week the goddess that stood out for me is the multi-cultural goddess of illusion- the goddess Maya. I think my favorite version of her, (and there are many-Hindu, Greco-Roman, Tibetan etc.) is the Scandinavian – where she represents the May maiden- the virgin goddess with the pregnant womb of chaos that preceded the making of the world, the beginning called Ginnungagap. She, like the Hindu Maya we might be more familiar with, is associated with the illusion of appearances. And so when we consider that we manifest from essence to form, often we get confused by this. We often want something because of what we think that the thing, experience, person will do for us, or how it will make us feel, or what we hope will happen when we arrive at the destination. For example, some think that once they fall for the One and then everything will be alright.

This is Your Very Best Manifesting Tool

portrait-artists-studio-picture-id482676276 This is Your Very Best Manifesting Tool

Oracle Cards are a Super-Link to Co-Creating and Manifesting!

Oracle cards are often mistaken for “fortune telling” devices, but in truth, they are a powerful tool in co-creating your reality with Spirit as your manifesting partner.

First off, let’s explore what an oracle actually is. The actual word comes from Latin “oraculum” then from “orare” which means “to speak, pray” (Merriam Webster).

It is known as an intermediary between the mundane world (ours) and the spiritual (Spirit/Universe/Source etc.). An oracle can be a person that gives you a message of wisdom from the divine, (like me) but it is also a medium through which to communicate directly with Spirit, your higher self, and your inner knowing and that can bypass your subjective truth that only comes from the experience and memory, desires and wants of your small self. It uses symbolic language to talk to you.

Oracle cards act as that medium. And, did you know that oracles have been around for thousands of years going all the way back to early goddess culture in Paleolithic and Neolithic times? They work the same way today as they did then!

You Just Have to Laugh

funnypuppy You Just Have to Laugh

Continuing on with the theme of using my weekly guidance videos as inspiration to write my blog, in this weeks’ 4 card oracle spread the goddess card that stood out for me was the Japanese goddess of humor and mirth – Uzume. It was actually pretty funny because I second guessed myself and thought, no I need to write about something serious this week!

So I shuffled my new deck and guess who popped out?

Yup. That happy joyful funny goddess- Uzume.

So, I reflected on her core message which distills down to the need for us to lighten our hearts and calm down our small selves no matter what challenges are looming in our outer conditions. We don’t have to take ourselves too seriously.

I tend to pay close attention when I get the very same oracle card more than twice in one week. I will admit I’ve really needed her message. Its been a dramatic month in the CBR world ever since we got a new puppy – who is a cross between a tiny sweet fluffy bunny and a Tasmanian devil. I will admit I completely have amnesia when it comes to the memory of training a puppy. Who Me? I have done this before? No way! All my dogs came well behaved.

How to Get in The Flow

intoflow How to Get in The Flow

If you watch my weekly oracle card readings lately you’ll notice I’m working with my new Goddess Power Oracle (loving the awesome feedback!) and this week the one goddess that stood out for me to talk about is the goddess Rhea and what her meaning offers all of us.

Now, whether you are “into” goddesses or not, just imagine these goddesses are really metaphors for the lessons they offer. In this case, because Rhea’s name means “ low and ease” although, in her myth, she experienced many hardships as a primordial goddess who gave birth to a big part of the Greek Pantheon. What her story shows us is how no matter what happened, she was able to flow around obstacles in a very resourceful way with positive results.

Improve Your Relationships! 3 Steps for Better Communication

coupledistractions Improve Your Relationships! 3 Steps for Better Communication

Does the idea of communicating with your loved one involve idle chit chat while gazing at the T.V. or glossing over your mobile device? Are you struggling with conflict and disagreements internally that show up as passive-aggressive behavior in yourself or others? What about with colleagues at work or even with whom you interact with on social media?

You’d think they are all different- that close relationship should count more, but why is that? Truly, anyone you communicate with deserves respect, kindness, and authentic dialog. No one needs to accept anything less.

Good communication is essential to having a loving, harmonious relationship. But, most of us were never really taught the art of relationship dialogue. Sure, we read magazine articles about finding the right moment to express our needs and how we need to learn how to compromise, etc. We try to keep trying to get them to hear our point of view and then get frustrated when our partner, colleague or friend doesn’t seem interested.

Magic Happens When The Self Aligns With the Soul

magichappens Magic Happens When The Self Aligns With the Soul

Dearest You,

I wonder if you know what your soul needs, and is that different than what your small self wants? Are they ever the same? Can they be? The answer is yes and when they align you’re in the magical miracle zone!

As I went over my 2019 list of what I intended to manifest in my life, I asked myself this question. Are my intentions in alignment with my soul? For a long time now I have known that if I only focus on my wants and desires without giving equal space for the needs of my soul I find that my manifestations will not be satisfying. There is a big difference between inspired intentions and wanting something to happen.

Make 2019 Meaningful & Amazing

amazinglife Make 2019 Meaningful & Amazing

We’re at the beginning of the year and if you’re anything like me you’ve got your intentions all set and raring to go! But, sometimes the “new year new you” vibe can create too many expectations that can weigh heavily on you especially if you haven’t put closure on last year!

Imagine that you stepped into the new year still dragging along a big bag of invisible stuff you don’t actually want, nor is even vaguely good for you Yet here you are trying to jump up and down with glee about all things new however your jump up is so lame and everything feels so slow and heavy? It’s like you’ve taken a detour in your mind and you find yourself all wrapped up about a future outcome that can’t make lift off! This can leave you feeling like you are fending off negativity at every turn. Or maybe your mind has run willy-nilly to a past hurt as if it just happened? Or, perhaps you are wandering in the potentials that seem so far away from where you are now, that you get confused as to how anything could happen to move you forward? It’s a big ol’ New year Hairball!
