Are You Committed To Living The Life Of Your Dreams?!

creid_7.25

Who do you need to become in order to have the life you’ve always dreamed of?

Making the life of your dreams a reality will require your commitment. It will ask you to claim that life and the version of you who lives it in advance – before you see the evidence with your eyes. It will require you to consistently invest in yourself and your transformation.

This isn’t about becoming something you aren’t or living a life that wasn’t meant for you. Instead, it’s about becoming the person you were always meant to be and claiming the life that’s been waiting for you.

Dig deep. But dig with a spoon, not a shovel.

How Do We Know When We've Found Ourselves?!

feeling-carefree

On the journey to self-actualization and becoming your highest self, there may come a point where you stop and wonder, “How do I know when I’ve found myself?”

It’s easy to get stuck in this way of thinking – the idea that your spiritual journey has an endpoint. That you aren’t your true, authentic self until one day, everything changes and you finally “arrive.” Instead, what you’ll most likely discover is that you will find yourself over and over again along the way. Finding yourself is more of a gradual unfolding or an organic blossoming than reaching a destination.

There are these moments though, where you’ll discover a little bit more about yourself. Where you know more about life or you have more self compassion. Where you see yourself and your life through a new lens. And each of these is another point on the evolution of your blossoming.

As you grow and transform, new parts of you are revealed.

How To Claim Your Authenticity Through Shadow Work!

authentic

Shadow work is the process of looking at the wounded parts of ourselves with compassion, love, and understanding so we can transform them. So those parts of us no longer keep us stuck or in pain.

When you do your shadow work, you set yourself free from the parts of you that have been hidden or that you’ve refused to look at. And as a result, you become more authentically YOU.

The shadow self is born from the grief, guilt, shame, and pain that has accumulated throughout your life and has become ingrained in your patterns. Deep within you, beneath this conditioned self is something greater – something which you already are but which you haven’t been able to freely show or experience. This is your Divine uniqueness.

Why Perfectionism Kills Creativity?!

Perfectionism

To experience true creativity is to be lost in a flow state. It can feel as if a stream of ideas and messages moves through us – we just have to get out of the way and allow this magical process to happen.

Creativity by nature has a very fluid structure, which is why perfectionism can be the ultimate killer of creativity. Perfectionism is focused only on the end game. It has a strict idea of what we plan to create and it doesn’t allow space for something unique and surprising to emerge.

If the thing you create is not exact, if it goes outside the lines, then you deny it. Inherent in the word perfectionism is a denial of the perfection of everything as it is. It denies the opportunity for something to create its own form.

Getting to the root of your perfectionism

If you’re starting to explore how to overcome perfectionism, you have to start by getting to the root. What’s causing this tendency and desire in the first place?

Typically, perfectionism is rooted in our strident need for certainty. In the desired end result of approval. Often, this desire for approval from others comes from a deep wound.

If this pressure to be approved of by another person is deeply ingrained in us, it can start to feel as though we personally will not be whole if we don’t get the approval from someone outside of ourselves. So, we learn to deny approval from ourselves to ourselves unless we reach some perfection that seems to be always out of reach.

How To Radically Accept Yourself

selflove

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be truly free of your past? To accept and love yourself fully and not see your life through the lens of your baggage?

This is the liberation that’s possible with radical acceptance.

Radical acceptance means taking life on life’s terms. Surrendering to what it is without judgment – the good and the bad – and taking responsibility for the parts we need to work on. When you look at yourself and your life with this kind of honesty, you’ll experience true freedom and you’ll find the path to self-acceptance and deep self-love.

How To Tap Into Your Higher Self

higherself

The Higher Self is our connection to Divinity – to God, Spirit, Source, the Universe, or whatever you choose to call it.

You can think of the Higher Self as your soul – the Divine part that chooses us and chooses to experience life through us. Through our personalities. This higher consciousness is the part of us that doesn’t fall prey to fear, scarcity, comparison, othering – or any of the things that cut us off from one another. The Higher Self recognizes that all life is sacred.

There are multiple parts to the self…

Although this Higher Self is the true essence of who we are as Spiritual beings, over time and through our life experience, another part of us forms as well – the smaller self or the ego.

The ego or the small self tends to think it’s running the show, although it really isn’t at all. This part of us sees the world through a lens of limited or false stories about reality. Things we’ve decided are true about ourselves or the world through our conditioning and the beliefs that have been passed down to us from our ancestors. Through these stories, we create an idea of our “self,” an identity we attach to.

This part of the self is necessary to our quality of uniqueness, but can also tend to trip us up. It’s a very triggered view of the world that is shaped and formed and also influenced through our wounding. And it has very little to do with our true, Divine self.

When you’re coming from a place of woundedness and you need to heal, it’s very hard to connect to your higher self or to find Spiritual growth.

How I Can Forgive Others and Practice Gratitude In My Life

gratitude.colette

My spiritual path began over 35 years ago when I first got clean and forgiveness is the road to freedom. Pain, resentment, shame, and anger can hold us for our entire lives if we never take the time to dive in and find compassion for ourselves and those who have hurt us.

The tricky thing about resentment is that it isn’t about the other person at all. In fact, the person you resent may not even know you resent them! But because you hold onto the stories from the past about people who have done you wrong, you keep an energetic tie to them.

Healing your past hurts begins when you look at your life with radical honesty. You have to take inventory of all of the places where you feel you were hurt, victimized, or taken advantage of and be willing to see your own part in them.

How To Start Your Spiritual Journey

woman-celebrating-on-top-of-offroad-car-picture-id851252520

If you’re looking for more meaning, purpose, depth, or guidance in your life, you may find yourself wondering – how does one start their spiritual journey?

In our Western Culture, the path to personal spiritual awakening isn’t something that’s been supported as an essential part of our daily lives. But at some point, something may happen that creates a call from the inside → out. A desire to explore the unseen forces of life. The deep questioning that comes with this call can go like this: “There must be more than this, why am I here, where is the truth?”

How To Trust Your Intuition!

intuition

We are spiritual beings first and human second. Although it goes against what most of us were taught, intuition is our first sense.

The one that helps us read between the lines, pick up on invisible information, feel things out and make good decisions, and understand the “vibe” we get from a person or situation.

When it comes to developing your intuition, the first thing you have to understand is that your intuition is NOT your intellect. Intuition doesn’t follow linear rules because it isn’t logical or intellectual. But it IS just as important as your intellect.

In order to navigate our world, we need both – our power of analytics + logical thinking, as well as the soft, nuanced world of intuitive intelligence.

Trusting your inner-voice means recognizing that certain things that don’t make any sense, but we still know they’re true. This can help us navigate a world where things are changing so rapidly.

Supermoon Intentions: Releasing What No Longer Serves You!

touch-the-moon-woman-and-dog-bloody-moon-moon-picture-id1266339955

So much of spiritual growth involves letting go of what no longer serves you and embracing that which elevates your energy and raises your consciousness, your compassion, and your experience of boundless love.

The Full Moon: A Time of Release

When you release what weighs you down — relationships, material possessions, old stories, old patterns of behavior — you make room for that which is meant for you and is part of your highest good.

Nature, as the saying goes, abhors a vacuum, so when you create space and set your intention on that which you desire to manifest, don’t be surprised to see it move easily toward you, like metal filings aligning with a magnet! Setting your intentions on higher levels of energy and awareness are key to this process.

Open To The Universe By Integrating Your 7 Energies

7energies

When you start to strengthen your relationship to Spirit, you start to see the connections in all things.

The connection between you and Mother Earth…

The connection between you and other humans…

…And the connection WITHIN yourself.

The seven energies you contain within are discrete, sacred centers, linked to seven different story themes every human experiences throughout your life. These energies are integrated as well as separate, all part of the totality of your life’s story — the way you think, how you make your life choices, and what you encounter within yourself — as well as the conditions of your world as you journey forward.

While I talk about the energies as separate, they are all part of a single, integrated system, just as we as individuals are separate, yet part of the Collective.

When you work with these energies, you operate at two levels simultaneously: The individual and the whole. When you strengthen one, you strengthen the entire system. Each is independent and interdependent.

Looking at each of the energies individually enables you to understand their importance, the related story, and how each impacts the whole. (If this interests you, there’s still time to join my FREE 7 Energies Challenge, going on right now!)

Does that list seem way too ambitious for little old you to ever attain?

Well, my darling… all these things are already part of you. You just need to learn how to access your seventh energy, that we connect to through Higher Thought.

It is through the seventh energy that we make our unique and purposeful connection to Spirit, to the Conscious Universe, to our Higher Power, God, or whatever name you use.

Trusting Your Intuition: THE SIXTH ENERGY!

gratitude-meditation

Intuition — our sixth energy — is a natural part of all of us — although many of us were raised to repress these “gut hits” in favor of logic and reason!

But when you don’t honor and trust your gut, your creative energy can be misdirected and you will make choices that you may regret later. Instead of working on behalf of your imagination and vision, it shows you evidence of stories full of mistakes, threats and detours, contracting instead of expanding your view of what is possible. The key is to balance this energy so you can see infinite potential, picking up on ideas, vibes, and messages that might be otherwise lost.

Honoring Your Authentic Self: THE FIFTH ENERGY!

authenticself

When asked about how he was able to create lifelike, detailed forms from blocks of marble, Michelangelo answered, “The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”

And so it is with your authentic self. You don’t need to create your personal truth; you simply need to remove everything that is standing in the way of self-expression. And the biggest obstacle is usually fear.

Rejecting Limits on Your Voice or Your Truth

When your fifth energy, the energy that corresponds to creative self expression, is unbalanced, it’s common to feel that you don’t have a right to express yourself. This lack of harmony can lead to fears about speaking up, for fear you’ll be judged, mocked, censured, or otherwise rejected.

But we cannot be totally free unless we are committed to telling the absolute truth — to others and to ourselves. And this takes courage! Often, we can be led to believe stories that it is safer to fit in, or that we have to earn our worth before we can speak up. Many people have had to fight to be heard, or maybe you were punished for telling the truth. Maybe you were, like me, taught how to fit in, and that being different was dangerous.

The Sacred Practice Of Forgiveness: THE FOURTH ENERGY!

forgiveness_CBR

It’s through our relationships with those close to us that we get to work out our spiritual growth — and I am no exception!

My relationship with my mother was a container in which I received some of my deepest hurts and also have experienced the redemptive power of forgiveness, which is our Fourth Energy, Love.

From my earliest days, I had such a love-hate relationship with my mom. She was a very complicated, confusing woman. She was absolutely riddled with contradictions. Like, if someone rang the doorbell and we weren’t expecting company, we had to immediately get away from the windows so no one could see us. But at the same time, she loved to show us off and have us look a certain way, dressed up like little dolls with curled hair and perfect clothing.

She wanted to control everything — and me being me, I wanted to rebel, so we’d butt heads constantly. I was supposed to behave according to her rules. But at the same time, she’d be totally lenient in other ways.

I remember wanting to skip school because I hadn’t studied for a test. She made up an illness for me and let me stay home. She was both my friend and tormentor — the definition of “frenemy.”

When our family finances fell apart, the whole family fell apart. We were all a mess, emotionally and financially and spiritually. I was deep in my addiction to drugs and alcohol, and nearly lost my life to my addiction. I was out of control and out of balance in so many ways, including in respect to my fourth energy center, where love, compassion, and forgiveness reside.

Embrace Your Unique Identity In The Sacred Collective: The Third Energy!

unique-identity

There was a time when I was so disconnected from who I was at my core, so out of balance in my third energy, that I had to be spiritually bankrupt before I could finally discover my identity and worthiness.

For most of my life, and for many reasons I did not understand until much later in life, I was raised to deny my authentic self. As a result I was a chameleon, shifting according to the environment I was in and what I thought those around me expected from me.

The instruction to hide my true identity was hammered into me. My mom always used to tell me, “Never talk about the family. Never talk about yourself.” I had to look and behave a certain way to fit into her idea of what was acceptable— she even picked my clothes! I wasn’t allowed to wear blue jeans — and this was the 70s when EVERYONE was wearing jeans. And my straight hair, well she made me curl it before I left the house to look more like her, conservative and not reflective of my taste or nature. You can imagine how her attempts to make me fit in actually made me stand out like a pigeon in a yard of peacocks.

Inherited Beliefs Can Take Control of Your Life

At the time, I didn’t understand that my mother was dealing with her own self-identity issues and she was doing her best to protect me. She was trying to keep me safe in the only way she knew how.

Setting Spiritual Boundaries: Learning To Flow Like Water With Your Second Energy!

spirit-bound

This year, we’re being called to take a more active role in the Collective — to break down what separates us and move forward to a new reality, one that is more loving, equitable, and just for all.

One point of confusion is the idea of being part of the larger whole of humanity, at the same time we respect and maintain our individual identities. That gives rise to questions like:

Mindfulness Practice: Opening Up To The Possible!

inner-peace-is-where-you-choose-it-to-be

Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs create the landscape in your mind that you call “here.” The challenging element is that it’s not fixed. Even while you inhabit it, it is changing based on your perception.

Your inner landscape reflects your feelings and the thoughts that are connected to them.

Two people can encounter the same situation and have completely different reactions based on their own history and stories. For instance, one person sees a picture of the Eiffel Tower and feels excitement and romance because it’s where their partner proposed. Another sees the same picture and feels sick to their stomach because it reminds them of the trip to France that led to a romantic breakup. Same photo, two very different responses rooted in their own individual experiences.

The ground beneath you, the atmosphere around you, and the energy within you can all shift in an instant as you react to what you perceive as happening in your life.

Past or Present? It’s Hard to Tell…

Compassion And Connection: Fulfilling Our Divine Purpose!

compassion

As spiritual souls having a human experience, our Divine purpose on earth is to actualize into the best version of ourselves. We do this through service to others.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a healer, we are all here to support the world’s healing. We do so by focusing on our own alignment. When we personally are aligned with the Universe, we are bringing more harmony to the world and helping to heal the collective whole.

Compassion refers to the desire to reduce the suffering of others, and we are acting to benefit others consciously. Just as healing the world begins with healing ourselves, compassion for others is easier when we also have compassion for ourselves. We are inextricable from the whole!

Compassionate Action: A Radical Approach To Giving Back!

helpful-team-of-social-workers-picture-id1170507240

The other day, I was on one of my rare excursions outside our home at the local grocery store. I was there with my basket of gluten-free bread, eggs, milk (okay, fine, I had a few gluten-free chocolate chip cookies in there, too!). Above the checkout area was a large, handwritten sign lettered in Sharpie that said:

“Please be kind to the staff. They are here to serve you during these trying times.”

At first, I thought, “How nice!” After all, I adore and appreciate any intentional reminder for kindness and love.

But then it occurred to me that something must have happened to require someone to take the time to write the sign and put it up. Actually, something must have happened more than once.

How many customers had snapped at the cashiers over the past 12 months? (I actually asked the cashier and she told me a few nasty stories!)

How many people had sworn at the stock clerks because there was no toilet paper left on the shelves?

How many complaints, angry voices, and frustrations had been taken out on others?

And suddenly, that sweet sign made me sad because of the hurt and suffering that was behind its creation.
