See What a Soulful Tribe Can Do for You

choosing-the-right-person-picture-id1063719382 When you are connected to your soul – you are linked to a higher power.

It’s hard to believe we’re now in our sixth month of quarantine life. Just the notion of this is getting us more antsy and anxious. The new school year has begun and our worries are compounding, whether it’s centered around the safety of our teachers and students heading back into the classrooms or how much longer we have to wait before some normalcy comes back into our lives.

But while your outside world is full of uncertainty, there is one resource you can always rely on, one constant force that will throw you a lifeline and keep you afloat during these chaotic times—your Soul!

Your soul is always connected to a Higher Source. (When I talk about “Source” I mean God, the Universe, or a Higher Consciousness – call it what you will.) This is the power that will move you beyond feeling trapped, constrained, unfulfilled or alone.

I know that many of you are concerned about what’s going on right now in the world and in your own life. Whatever it may be: fear, uncertainty, injustice, intolerance, financial worry, relationship troubles, or health concerns. Maybe you’re feeling like you don’t belong anywhere or you’re losing hope. Maybe you want some answers to the many questions filling your head: What can I do? Why am I here? How do I get out of this mess? It’s important at times like these to remain connected to your soul. When you are connected to your soul – you are linked to a higher power.

How to Tell If You’re Using Your Innate Psychic Ability

woman-in-an-ancient-temple-looks-at-the-cross-picture-id1209246894 Are you opening your awareness to your natural abilities?

Did you know that you were born psychic? It’s true. In fact, we were all born psychic. Some people have more extrasensory abilities than others, yet we all possess this innate natural power.

You don’t have to be a transcended master or meditation guru or a TV celebrity. Being psychic isn’t about fortune-telling, crystal balls or predicting the future, it isn’t just something we possess—it’s more a way of being.

Let me tell you a little about what the word psychic means. Put simply, it comes from the Greek word psychikos that means “of the soul.” By definition, this means that as spiritual beings, we’re able to access, receive and transmit information that reaches beyond our natural five senses.

We’re all equipped with a complex and highly tuned inner guidance system, which we can regularly tap in to, using our intuitive and psychic abilities. Believe it or not, you use these special psychic abilities all the time.  You’re probably not even aware that you’re doing it. Take a few moments and answer the following 6 questions:

Psychic Ability vs. Intuition: What’s the Difference?

portrait-of-sad-young-woman-with-face-protective-mask-looking-through-picture-id1217603648 Psychic Ability vs. Intuition: What’s the Difference?

I've had so many emails and messages about tuning in during these challenging times we continue to face. I know everyone is asking the obvious questions, such as: "How long will it last?", "Am I safe to go out?", "Can I go to the party my family is throwing?" ... and so many more. There are no set answers, but many of you have been asking how to tune into your own inuition at this time. So, I thought it was important to remind you of the primary difference between psychic information and intuitive information.

How do you tell whether you’re getting psychic messages or it’s just a hunch or your imagination? The words psychic and intuition are often used interchangeably. Is there a difference between the two? I’d say that psychic ability is simply the natural extension of our intuition.

A Walking Meditation to Calm Your Anxiety

long-walk-on-the-beach-picture-id1194449388-2 A Walking Meditation to Calm Your Anxiety

With all this people-distancing and being sheltered in place, I really need to get out in the fresh air and walk. I usually take my dog Koda with me, and of course, my mask! I don't pretend for one minute the situation isn't serious, but if you're like me ... it's so important to keep things balanced, and while I take it seriously, I try my hardest to remain realistic and not become neurotic or over-react. Having a dog means I have to take him out every day for a walk, but I find these walks even more meaningful.

So, next time you venture outside for a little unwind time, why don't you try a “walking meditation.” This is where you use the experience of walking as a catalyst to combine movement with inner-calmness. It's all about focusing on the rhythm of walking to the point, where the rest of your mind chatter starts to quieten or even silenced. It really works! Anytime you actively focus your mind on a single activity, you enter some form of tranquillity.

Get Back on Your Path of Purpose

Get Back on Your Path of Purpose Get Back on Your Path of Purpose

In a recent blog, I talked about a powerful technique I learned while studying in England. My tutors taught me how to move away from feeling down and low during challenging times and to “think up” so I could get back on the path of clarity and purpose. If you're feeling anything like me, then as we move through this particularly challenging time with Covid, it's so important to deal with any fears and anxieties, and to start to get back on your path of purpose. So, what better time than right now!

Here's an exercise to help you connect with your higher consciousness. You will even be able to ask questions for a little extra guidance. Let’s begin:

Sit in a comfortable chair. Close your eyes and relax. Now I want you to bring your awareness to the bottom of your feet. Let your breath assist you in transferring the relaxing energy up through the bottom of your feet. Slowly work your way up your calves, your thighs, your abdomen, your chest, your fingers, your hands, your arms, your shoulders, your neck, your face … right to the top of your head.

Now imagine that there’s a big funnel starting to form on top of your head, reaching out into the universe. Think of it as a vortex of energy reaching upward. Let your awareness constantly flow up and out of your head and into this funnel above you. All the information you want can be brought to you.

This Is a Time to ‘Think Up!

yoga-position-picture-id172689771 This Is a Time to ‘Think Up!

During a recent Facebook Live session, I mentioned a chapter in my book Psychic Navigator that I thought would be helpful as we continue to face these difficult times of people-distancing and remaining vigilant to keep up the good practice, even though it's easy to let things slip.

The more we stay connected to our Higher Mind—which we also call the Universe, the Source, or Spirit—the more we strengthen and build that crucial bridge between ourselves and our higher consciousness.

While we’re all born connected to this Divine awareness, we tend to pull away from what was once natural. It’s reasonable to assume that when we become disconnected from our Higher Mind, the Source that once nourished us will be replaced with something else. In other words, the connection could be with food, alcohol, nicotine, co-dependency to someone or something, or even work.

How to Calm Your Mind and Soul

morning-meditation-picture-id1246364935 How to Calm Your Mind and Soul

I know that many of you may have misconceptions about meditation. This word alone conjures up images of a guru chanting from the top of a mountain or a monk sitting in a sacred temple, surrounded by incense smoke floating in the air. Some people believe that meditation is as simple as closing one’s eyes and going into a trance, or at the most basic level, that you only need to let your mind go totally blank to be able to enter a meditative state.

During these uncertain times when many of us are having trouble sleeping as our minds race over the current headlines, let’s take a closer look at this ancient method of stillness and guidance of the soul.

Meditation is merely a state of being, in which your active mind slows down. It can bring you to a place where you can actually silence your mental chatter, and in doing so, become increasingly aware of the subtle, shifting energies within you. It may seem impossible, but you can actually train yourself to watch your thoughts come into your mind and go right out again, much like flowing water. Soon these same thoughts will lose their power to influence your conscious mind.

It’s a Vital Time to Feed Your Soul

meditation-and-spirituality-at-home-picture-id1141210149 It’s a Vital Time to Feed Your Soul

Now that we’re staying at home, it’s getting harder to find peace and contentment.  I believe, above all right now, it’s most important to continually feed our souls.

When the outside world becomes so stressful that your anxiety starts to overwhelm you, stop and ask yourself: “When was the last time I checked in with myself?” You’ve got to learn to pull back from the stresses and strains of our current situation and make time to seek out that inner place of silence, calmness and peace.

Meditation can do all that! It can also positively affect your health, which I call the extra benefit.  For instance, the sense of relaxation and calmness that results from meditating can enhance your immune system, as well as reduce your blood pressure. Additionally, it can increase your physical energy as well as your overall well-being.

How to relax with all that's going on!

young-woman-sitting-in-the-lotus-pose-outside-on-her-patio-picture-id1202729719 How to relax with all that's going on!

If you want to become more aware of your inner guidance system, you must first learn to relax your body as well as your mind. When your physical state is one of calmness, your mind will become still, and clarity will follow. You’re probably saying: “But John, how can I relax with all that’s going on in the world right now?” My best advice: Meditate!

I know, you’ve heard me say this before, but it’s worth repeating since meditation will help you feel calmer and more balanced during this pandemic.

So, here’s the deal. I want to challenge you to meditate every day, even if it’s for only 5 minutes. You’ll feel more capable of dealing with being stuck in your house and handling your anxiety. Plus, it will ultimately build your immune system and alleviate some of these tensions you’re holding inside your body. Once that stress is released, some associated minor ailments may disappear as well.

Conversations with your Soul

Conversations with your Soul Conversations with your Soul

For many years, I’ve kept my own journals to capture my own spiritual progress and record the patterns weaving in and around my life. When I look back, I can see how I’ve grown, and I appreciate the important lessons I needed to encounter along the way. During these unprecedented times, I find myself needing to record my thoughts and feelings more, as though I am drawn to the need to record them. My mind goes round and round trying to make sense of what is happening right now, not just in the USA, but all over the world.

The spiritual discipline of journaling is meant to be so much more than just a record of events. It’s a way to relish time with your self in quiet contemplation and reflection, and it will help you connect with your soul on a deeper level.  It’s a bit like a meditative conversation with your inner-self. It can also be a cathartic time, where you're able to work out your response to what's going on, and hopefully find comfort from within. If you've never made time to keep a journal before, maybe this is the ideal time to start. I like to call my journal, a Soul Journal.

When Life Gets Chaotic, Try This Exercise

content-young-man-sitting-meditating-in-comfy-chair-on-white-picture-id106573189 When Life Gets Chaotic, Try This Exercise

Let’s take a few minutes and get mindful today. Mindfulness is the opposite of distraction. The more mindful you are, the more aware you’ll become of yourself, what’s going on inside of you, as well as what’s going on outside and beyond yourself. It’s a great exercise for your soul.

Find a comfortable place to sit. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your hands comfortably on your lap. Use your nose to inhale as well as exhale. Practice this breathing meditation for 20 minutes. Each step should take 5 minutes:

We’re All Connected … Especially Now!

earthconnected We’re All Connected … Especially Now!

A few short weeks ago, we were going about our normal lives … driving to work, picking up groceries, dropping our kids off at school, meeting friends for dinner, taking trips to see our relatives, attending a live event and catching up with our neighbors at the dog park.

Then it all came to a sudden and unexpected halt that shook the very foundation of our lives!

Now, we’re being urged to practice social distancing and isolation. Residents in many states have been mandated to stay at home. Businesses have shut down. Some cities are closing their beaches and parks. Some countries, such as Italy and Spain are virtually at a standstill.

Like you, I felt a pang of fear in my gut and my head was full of questions as this news was unfolding. Why is this happening? What’s the message we’re supposed to get from this? Will the world as we know it ever be the same?

Weeks earlier, we yearned to step away from our overwhelming schedules so we could spend more time with our loved ones or by ourselves. Now that we’re forced to do it, it’s scaring the heck out of us.

A Whale Song and the Soul’s Light

tail-fin-from-diving-humpback-whale-at-sunset-picture-id185327720 A Whale Song and the Soul’s Light

As I often say, some people are attracted to light, while others emanate it. Let me tell you a story about the parents of a very good friend of mine. This is such a special story and one I hold close to my heart.

Ken and Pat are from Great Britain and were in the U.S. for a visit. I thought I’d surprise them by taking them out on a very special boat trip. It was the first time Ken and Pat were going to experience a whale-watching excursion.

As the boat slipped away from the New England harbor, Ken was clearly eager as he looked overboard, scanning the water with his battered and aged binoculars. The boat gathered speed and we headed out into the ocean, which was unbelievably calm. It was about an hour and a half later that we saw in the distance the first spouts from a family of whales.

The captain announced we were going to edge closer to the whales. He explained: “Male humpback whales sing the longest and most complex songs in the animal kingdom, each one lasting for half an hour or so. They sing to woo females and frighten off rival males. The songs can be heard underwater hundreds of miles away!”

Got Soul?

soulfullife Got Soul?

Through the ages, scholars as well as all religious and spiritual traditions have contemplated the definition, significance, and nature of the soul. Some people believe that soul simply suggests another word for spirit, and that they’re really one of the same, or that it implies a religious or even a spiritual quality.

You may often hear the word soul used in today’s modern culture referring to a sense of pride in areas such as religion, social customs, food, music, or even dance. I have even heard the word used when expressing a deep-felt emotion: “He put all his heart and soul into that performance.”

I’ve been amazed by the number of definitions, meanings, and references there are for one single word, which itself can mean so many different things to so many different people.

Soul is consciousness. It is my belief that the soul is the true essence of a person. When you look into a mirror and see your reflection, you notice your body, your hair, your eyes, your smile, or even your frown! The reflection looking back at you, the image you see is just your external shell; it’s not who you really are.

A Boy That Showered Us with Compassion

A Boy That Showered Us with Compassion A Boy That Showered Us with Compassion

It’s funny how just as I’m about to wrap up one of my lectures, the strongest spirits come through to me.  One afternoon in particular, I heard a voice that was directing me to a couple in the front section.

“I feel I want to come right here,” I said pointing to a couple. "Which one of you lost your father, please?” The husband raised his hand.

“Your dad is here,” I went on. “But, he’s got someone with him who really wants to come through. Did you and your wife lose a child?”

The couple sadly acknowledged losing their son. At this point, the link was crystal clear, so I gently went on, “I feel that he passed from an illness, and I can feel a slight pain behind my eye. Was he eight years old?”

3 Most Asked Questions about the Afterlife

stairway 3 Most Asked Questions about the Afterlife

I’d like to answer some of your questions about my work and the Other-Side. I hope these answers will offer you some comfort and clarity.

1.  Is my loved one on the Other-Side always connected to me?
Your family and friends in this world aren’t around you 24-7. But when there’s an emergency, they’re there when you need them. It’s the same way with your loved ones on the Other-Side. They know what’s going on in your life and try to let you know they are there for you, whether it’s for love, guidance, hope, or inspiration.

It takes a lot of energy for those who have passed to lower their vibration and make a connection to you. So it’s not something they’re going to be doing all the time. Your loved ones have their own learning to do over there and need time to grow and progress. That’s why those who have recently passed often need time before they’re ready to connect with you.

One of My Most Emotional Cases

moviemind One of My Most Emotional Cases

Today, I want to talk to you about place memory. It’s the ability to pick up vibrations and detailed information, whether it’s seen, felt or heard, of a past event. The more traumatic the event—the stronger the impression.

The easiest way to describe it, it's is as if someone took a snapshot in time, and etched it in the atmosphere of the actual environment or the fabric of the building where the event took place.

Fortunately, most people don’t have such finely tuned psychic antennae to be able to tap into such memories. Otherwise, we’d all be walking around looking shocked and miserable every time we go near a disaster site. On a lesser scale, many people may walk into a room and feel an argument that just took place, or pick up on the atmosphere in a room that doesn’t feel right. We’ve all experienced this sometime in our lives.

In my case, I have the ability to go way beyond this feeling. My ability can literally be stretched over the canvas of time. It really doesn’t matter if it was yesterday, last week, or even hundreds of years ago. Scenes play out in my mind as I slip back in time, and often the clarity and detail is like an old movie that’s been digitally restored. I feel as if I’m actually there.

10 Ways to Converse with Your Pet

pet_communication 10 Ways to Converse with Your Pet

If you’re a dog or a cat owner, you already have a strong spiritual bond with your pet. But is it really possible to have a two-way communication with them?

Animals are masters at telepathic communication. I hadn’t really appreciated just how much they psychically reveal their thoughts, feelings, emotions and health issues until I met with an animal communicator.

A few years back, I had a session with New England animal communicator Danielle MacKinnon and I was astonished at how much I learned. I was even able to ask Koda some questions through Danielle.

Here are some of Danielle’s tips to help you communicate with your pet:

  1. If you want to talk with your pet, always ask for permission first. Remember to thank your pet after the session.
  2. Keep your questions short and simple: “What’s bothering you?” “Do you like this?” Be as clear and concise as you can be.
  3. Animals like to think in pictures. If you’re going out for a while, imagine sending a picture of a clock to your pet with the time you’re expecting to return. If you’re going away for a few days, imagine how many sunsets you’ll be away for.
  4. Use your own body as a guide to connect with the body of your animal.  Ask your pet if it’s feeling all right, or if it’s experiencing any discomfort, then see if you’re feeling drawn to a certain area in your own body.

A Thoughtful 2020

woman-using-laptop-picture-id1074029826 A Thoughtful 2020

Many people start off the New Year with resolutions – but I’d like to help you (and I include myself) in stating that beside making resolutions this year – I think it’s so important to try and become more aware of the idea that ‘life follows thought’.

To put it simply … YOU are what you think. Most people don’t realize how powerful thoughts are and how each thought has its own unique energy signature. You’re a magnetic energy being – so that when you have a thought – it’s immediately lodged in your magnetic field, which is more commonly known as your aura.

When that thought remains in this field for any length of time, it often radiates out to be absorbed into the Universe. It’s easy to imagine what’s likely to happen to someone who constantly fears certain things will happen in their life. They’re consciously thinking about it, dwelling on it, obsessing on it, feeding their precious energy into it. The net result is that they end up sending that stream of fear-based thought out into the universe. It’s like they’re holding up a sign above their head with a giant arrow saying: “Hey, come to me!” So, it usually does. Then you’ll hear them say: “I knew this was going to happen!” It’s not rocket science to see that we attract what we think.
