Yes, there is a life review. It is like as they go through their life review, they are witnessing everything that ever happened in their life… every feeling, every emotion, every experience. It is as if it is played out on a movie screen. I’ve been told that it’s like you have a remote and you can fast forward and rewind through different parts of it afterwards. You can also see the way things might have turned out had you gone down a different road, or made a different choice. It is my understanding that one road isn’t better than another. They generally all wind up going to the same place. It is really just more about the experience and the expansion of the person. As you go through this life review, there is no judge and jury. There is no one to condemn you. It is an opportunity to study the life you lived, and learn and grow from it with a new and different perspective. Because you are now in Spirit, you can see from a higher vibration and can see what each experience was truly about.

What do you do when you can’t seem to find your voice but you gotta get it out?

One of my favorite ways to move energy when I feel stuck is to write and burn. It’s not like you just write and burn and it’s done… it truly is a healing process. You may have heard of Julia Cameron’s “Morning Pages” ritual that invites you to journal stream of consciousness thoughts for ten minutes each morning. It’s a great way to get the funk and the junk out of your subconscious so you are more capable of being creative, intentional and free. Write and Burn, is similar, but different. It invites you to get honest with the feelings that don’t feel good … so honest that you are willing to move them out of your head and heart and onto paper. It is an extremely powerful process that I have been doing for years. I find it so helpful that I suggest it to about 90% of my clients at one time or another.

Writing to heal is scientifically proven. I knew I always felt better after I had written in my journal, especially the painful yucky stuff, but I didn’t know there was “real” science that backed up what I felt. Not until I read an article about James W. Pennebaker, a psychology professor. He became deeply interested in the physical and mental benefits of what he called self-disclosure and created an experiment to test out his theory. He gathered a group of students who were asked to write about their own traumatic experiences for 20 minutes, on three consecutive days. Serving as a control group were an equal number of students asked to write about unimportant matters.

The results showed that there was a marked difference between the two groups in terms of the impact of the writing exercise. In those who had written of trivial matters, there was no change either in their physical or mental health. In contrast, those who had written about traumatic experiences showed a marked strengthening of their immune system, decreased visits to the doctor and significant increases in psychological well-being. These findings were measured using physiological markers, behavioral markers and self-reporting. In another study in the 1990s of people with AIDS, those who wrote about their diagnosis and how it had affected their lives experienced a beneficial increase in white blood cell counts and a drop in their viral loads.

Writing & Burning is a safe place for you to release. It’s a place for you to get honest with yourself and your pain. A place for you to allow yourself complete freedom to write whatever you want. No one else but you will ever see it, so swear and curse if you feel the need and write down everything that you feel about the person or the situation that is affecting you. Write about why you feel the way you do … even if it doesn’t make sense.

The answer is simple:

You discover your purpose by being present in the moment. Listening to your inner guidance. Paying attention to the messages you are receiving at any given time. Being aware of the feelings in your body when certain things awaken a desire within us. And being absolutely mindful of our thoughts. If purpose is within us, and you desire to discover consciously what your purpose is, then we must understand that spirit speaks to you in present moment. You cannot hear the message from spirit when thinking about the past or thinking about the future. Spirit speaks to you in present moment. It is a now experience.

Using Automatic Writing /Journaling to Discover Your Purpose

This exercise can be done at any particular time when you are in need of clarity or guidance. Your purpose is constantly changing as you change and grow and expand. So, this exercise may be helpful at any given time along your journey of life. Automatic writing will help you to be conscious of what is calling to you at this particular time in your life so that you can live intentionally and consciously.

This is the way I look at life… everyone gets to choose what they want, and what they want has nothing to do with you… You will never be good enough, nice enough, rich enough.. to change someone else. It won’t happen. People change when they are ready to change… if ever. So, when someone chooses something different than what you think they should have, it is not personal. It is simply what they want, in that moment. Whether they are choosing what you feel is best for them or not, they are, at that time..choosing what they believe will “taste” good.

I love the metaphor of the message below. It is one of the ways I too, look at life so I wanted to share it. I believe it explains something complicated in a very simplified way.

“We want you to enjoy the contrasting experience, just like you enjoy the contrasting buffet. And we want you to reach the place that whenever you’re in front of a buffet that has so much that you do like to eat, as well as some that you don’t like to eat, you don’t feel frustrated that there are things there you don’t want to eat. You don’t feel compelled to put them on your plate and eat them; you just pick the things that you like. And the Universe of thought is the same way. You can choose from it the things that you like.”

Years ago, I had an experience that was a great example of how powerful manifestation can be and also the power of absolute belief that something will happen. For some people this was hard to believe, including and especially … my sweet husband! (insert smirk from me)

The story begins:

We were in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, had just arrived, got our stuff put away and headed to the beach. It was a BIG family vacation. About 15-20 of us were out having a good time, hanging with the family, jumping in the waves and just playing in the water. My oldest niece was a little bit scared of the water and I was trying to teach her how to jump the waves and not fall down every time … because she was falling down every time. You know, there’s a science to jumping the waves at the exact right time and not being knocked down every time, right? SO, I am teaching her how to do this, pretty successfully … or so I thought …

Side-note: I had my sunglasses on. And these aren’t every day sunglasses, they’re prescription sunglasses! So of course, they are irreplaceable … and expensive. In addition to the fact that if I lose them, I can’t see well for the entire next 7 days of our vacation. Remember, we have been there for one hour of the first day.

I know this can be a very controversial topic… I’ll share my thoughts on it below and I would love to hear your thoughts as well on this statement:

If there is no source of illness, why are there so many sick people? It is because they have found lots of excuses to hold themselves in vibrational discord with wellness. They are not letting it in. And when they don’t let it in, the absence of it looks like sickness. And when enough of them do it you say, “Oh, there must be a source of sickness. In fact, let’s give it a label. Let’s call it cancer. Let’s call it AIDS. Let’s call it all kinds of terrible things, and let’s imply that it jumps into people’s experience.” And we say it never jumps into anybody’s experience. It’s just that people learn through trial and error, and — through banging around with each other — patterns of thought that don’t let it in.

Usually, three or sometimes four times a year, the planet Mercury appears to be moving backwards in the sky for a period of approximately 3 weeks. Technically, planets don’t actually move backwards … they don’t even slow down, but as Mercury passes the earth in its orbit … it appears to slow down, stop (station) and spin backward (retrograde). Of course, it really isn’t moving backward … it’s an optical illusion, since there is forward movement, like speeding by a slow-moving train — as it recedes, it appears to go backward. In astrology, Mercury rules communication, travel, and technology—so all of these areas can feel out of control during these three weeks.

It’s been a hot one here in Arizona … 117 degrees the other day when my hubby and I had an adventure on the lake when a monsoon “haboob” hit us. Yes, that is a real word, look it up if it’s new to you … kind of a funny word?

Anyway, we made it back to our camp … with a lot of paddling effort on our parts and a little help from our friends?

And all was well…

Although unexpected as it hit soooo fast, it was a fun little adventure.

But I was thinking afterwards…

Life is meant to be an adventure, right?  It’s a journey of joy and pain and exploration and excitement and grief and peace and everything in between. Really, it’s a constant journey of expansion and contraction.

Clutter is important to look at. What clutter represents, whether it’s nicely organized clutter, stacks and piles, or hoarding … it’s about not wanting to let go. It’s about holding on. It can be about protection … protecting yourself from being seen, keeping yourself safe, abundance (feeling abundant when I see how much stuff I have around me, that gives me value or a sense of value in this world.) It can be about how you identify yourself in the world … there are so many different parts to this.

 

What are your challenges with stuff and clutter?

 

What is your perception of why you’re keeping that stuff around you?

 

Many people struggle with clearing out their space. I’ve worked with people that on the surface things look nice, but you open a cupboard and all the shit falls out, or you look under the bed and there’s piles of stuff. That’s all symbolic.

 

There’s a saying something like “clear space, clear mind”. When you have a lot of stuff around you, especially when it’s disorganized and piled up everywhere, that’s usually how your mind feels. If you have stuff in tubs that you haven’t seen in 12 months or 5 years, it’s likely that the majority of that stuff is not necessary in your everyday life.

Do You Get Stuck in Judgment and Comparison? Do You Get Stuck in Judgment and Comparison?

Do you get stuck in judgment … of yourself or others? Do you compare yourself with others? Do you judge where you think you “should” be now in your life? How might these thoughts hold you back from truly living in this present moment? This moment is all you have, right here right now. Why would you waste it on judgment or fear-based thoughts? When you recognize you have been living in the past or the fearful future or focusing on others … you will see that you are missing THIS moment. Judgment and comparison comes from fear or a lack mentality.


I would invite you to become aware of how you feel physically when you get into those thoughts. The way that you feel is expressing itself in your physical body for a reason. Your body is telling you that this is not in alignment with your truth … that these feelings of lack, these feelings of doubt, of fear, of anger, toward the past, towards the future, towards yourself … that these feelings are not only not raising your vibration but are holding you back from seeing the beauty within you, and the amazing life around you. These negative thoughts and feelings are not in alignment with who you truly are, and your body is giving you that gift of awareness. So, instead of doing what you’ve done in the past, whether its staying stuck in the judgment, pushing your emotions down, ignoring your feelings, or denying them … you can instead see it as an opportunity to look at it, change your thoughts and take some steps to start to heal it.
