Your Soul Knows Best

IMG_1964-1200x900

Sometimes it seems as if life is random, crazy, a mistake of cosmic proportions. It isn’t. There is intent and purpose woven into the fabric of the universe. And your soul knows this. Your soul chose this lifetime for its own evolution, for humanity’s evolution. We humans are on a collective journey through diverse Earth experiences to integrate polarities and find our way back to balance, peace, and harmony. The soul is our guide.

The challenge for the soul-as-human is to reach peaceful harmony within a physical form with its complex emotions, thoughts, and anatomical circuitry. At times it can seem overwhelming. However, if you remind yourself that your soul chose the scenarios and experiences of your lifetime for its own growth and expansion, then perhaps you can come to acceptance and even gratitude. It’s not necessarily something that will make sense to the mind, but your heart naturally allows life to flow through it. If you remain centered in your heart, life will feel more whole and less fragmented.

Namaste

namaste

“The God within me meets and recognizes the God within you” is the basic meaning of the word namaste.

Though we all seek different paths and adapt to our own unique beliefs, we are all made of the same energy and essence of God. Our life force as humans is the same. We have discovered among indigenous people of the world, that though they lived in separate countries and did not have the means to communicate, they shared similar rituals. We have the immense ability to connect with the human heart beyond language and geographical borders.

Setting Spiritual Boundaries: Learning To Flow Like Water With Your Second Energy!

spirit-bound

This year, we’re being called to take a more active role in the Collective — to break down what separates us and move forward to a new reality, one that is more loving, equitable, and just for all.

One point of confusion is the idea of being part of the larger whole of humanity, at the same time we respect and maintain our individual identities. That gives rise to questions like:

Archangel Zadkiel

angel-wings

Let’s talk about Archangel Zadkiel today. He’s not one of the most common archangels. He’s one that a lot of people are unaware of, which is why he came into my space today. So, my intuition tells me that means, for all of us, we’ve got a little forgiveness work to do!

Archangel Zadkiel is the angel of forgiveness. He also helps us with mercy and benevolence.

Benevolence is kindness.

Forgiveness … that can be many types … of course, we’ve got forgiveness of others; forgiveness of our past; forgiveness of decisions; forgiveness of other people and what they’ve done or not done.

Then we’ve got forgiveness of ourselves; forgiveness of our choices; forgiveness of maybe sometimes just our way of seeing things.

So Zadkiel can help you with that. You can invite Archangel Zadkiel’s energy in to support you in forgiveness. Now, the way that I look at forgiveness is forgiveness to me is giving the energy back – not from a place of anger – but if you’re carrying energy from an old circumstance or situation –  blame, hatred, negative energy with someone, whatever – giving that energy back, releasing the energy and not holding it any longer. Giving it back to the universe, giving it back to the person – so that they can transmute it themselves.

I think that is a much better way to move through life than it is to carry energy from life experiences, choices, circumstances that have happened in your life and have you continue to just stew on it or use it as an excuse for not moving forward in your life.

Your Intuition

woman-contemplates

“Our intuition is like a muscle, we must practice listening to it and trusting its wisdom. When you take the time to ask and keep listening for the answer, being at peace becomes easy.” — Lisa Prosen

We have intuition, nature has instincts.

Many people ask today,“How can my life be more magical?” and “How can I go from ordinary to extraordinary?”

Great thinkers have taught us that we either go through life learning and struggling, or we listen to our own intuition. Each of us has the innate ability to listen to our inner voice and receive guidance for direction, clarity or choices.

When we develop trust that our intuition works for us, we expand our active use of it.

We are all deeply intuitive but many of us lose touch with our inner knowing.

Maxed Out and Exhausted? It Could Be Empathy Fatigue

exhausted

Caretakers the world over are all too familiar with feelings of being stretched too thin from time to time as they nurture, support, and protect those they care for. Many others, though, are experiencing similar feelings for the first time during the pandemic. Whether you’ve been stuck at home caring for children 24/7, caring for an elderly or disabled loved one, or even “caretaking” your colleagues and your business as we all navigate this unusual time, you may have hit a wall of empathy fatigue.

What Is Empathy Fatigue?

Whatever You Don't Want

IMG_2521-1200x900

Consider this possibility: Everything you don’t want in your life (pain, loss, difficult relationships, fear) could be there as a catalyst for you on your soul journey in this lifetime. What you resist or reject may be your greatest teacher. We come to Earth to have experiences, the full spectrum, not just the “good stuff.” That’s what being human is all about. And what is “good” anyway? The viewpoints of today can be completely reversed tomorrow. What you grieve over losing may later be shown to be a huge blessing. So what if everything is a blessing, no matter what it looks like?

Mindfulness Practice: Opening Up To The Possible!

inner-peace-is-where-you-choose-it-to-be

Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs create the landscape in your mind that you call “here.” The challenging element is that it’s not fixed. Even while you inhabit it, it is changing based on your perception.

Your inner landscape reflects your feelings and the thoughts that are connected to them.

Two people can encounter the same situation and have completely different reactions based on their own history and stories. For instance, one person sees a picture of the Eiffel Tower and feels excitement and romance because it’s where their partner proposed. Another sees the same picture and feels sick to their stomach because it reminds them of the trip to France that led to a romantic breakup. Same photo, two very different responses rooted in their own individual experiences.

The ground beneath you, the atmosphere around you, and the energy within you can all shift in an instant as you react to what you perceive as happening in your life.

Past or Present? It’s Hard to Tell…

The Superpower of Mindful Witnessing

mindfullistening

The capacity to witness what is happening inside us with a non-judging attention allows us to respond to life from our full intelligence and heart. This talk looks at the role of witnessing in spiritual practice, and how we can cultivate this superpower in a way that reveals the light or spirit that lives through all beings.

“Still, what I want in my life
is to be willing
to be dazzled—
to cast aside the weight of facts

and maybe even
to float a little
above this difficult world.
I want to believe I am looking

into the white fire of a great mystery.
I want to believe that the imperfections are nothing—
that the light is everything—that it is more than the sum
of each flawed blossom rising and falling. And I do.”

Compassion And Connection: Fulfilling Our Divine Purpose!

compassion

As spiritual souls having a human experience, our Divine purpose on earth is to actualize into the best version of ourselves. We do this through service to others.

Even if you don’t consider yourself a healer, we are all here to support the world’s healing. We do so by focusing on our own alignment. When we personally are aligned with the Universe, we are bringing more harmony to the world and helping to heal the collective whole.

Compassion refers to the desire to reduce the suffering of others, and we are acting to benefit others consciously. Just as healing the world begins with healing ourselves, compassion for others is easier when we also have compassion for ourselves. We are inextricable from the whole!

Be in a Constant State of Discovery... Our Life Is the Divine Unfolding

discovery
Why look for God?….
Look for the one looking for God…
but then Why look at all?…
He is not lost…
He is right here…
~ Rumi

As many of you know, my life—both personal and professional—is focused on the conscious journey. And I am sure that it’s the same for most of you, too.

But what does this really mean?

And maybe more importantly, what does the conscious journey look like and how does it feel?

For me, it’s about being present with the moment at hand, be it comfortable or uncomfortable, exciting or ordinary. It’s about being in surrender to Divine Life as it flows through me.

It’s all about being in a constant state of discovery.

Masks

IMG_E2887-1200x900

This blog article is not about the pros and cons of mask-wearing. Instead, I’d like to suggest a possible deeper meaning for this whole phenomenon. All around the world, people are wearing masks, for mutual protection and individual/collective health. When I pass someone on the street here in Massachusetts in winter, I see eyes and a mask—and lots of clothing. COVID has made us almost unrecognizable, one from the other. Sometimes it seems eerie or surreal—a science fiction scenario. Yet people often wave or gesture in a friendly way as they go by, bridging the social distance between us. In our anonymity, we are still human. And maybe, ultimately, that may be the gift of COVID: to show us in an unforgettable ongoing visual that we are really all the same. The masks hide our differences, and our common humanity is clearly visible in our eyes.

THINK Beyond Your Genes

thoughtful-evening

Time Out … a Pause to Reflect

When nutrients are placed in a tissue culture dish, cells express growth behavior by moving to the stimulus and are open to assimilate the nutrition. In contrast, when toxins are placed in the culture dish, the cells engage in a protection response by moving away from the stimulus and closing themselves down to ward off the environmental threat. Growth behavior: Move to the stimulus and be “open.” Protection behavior: Move away from the stimulus and be “closed.” The insight offered by these cells is that organisms cannot move “to” and “away” from a stimulus, nor can they be “open” and “closed,” at the same time. The profound conclusion is that organisms can switch between either growth or protection, but they cannot engage in both behaviors simultaneously.

What position do you think an individual’s “survival” switch would be in response to each of the following two news bulletins: 1) “The annual flu season is back and as normal, there are certain populations whose lives are more threatened.” 2) “The COVID-19 virus is coming and millions may die.” In previous years, you may not have been overly concerned about the report offered in version 1. However, today’s corona flu pandemic, fraught with massive potential deaths, has almost the entire global civilization engaging in a protection response, hiding from one another and “locked down” in isolation.

You Are The Magic

youaremagic

Most of you that are healers think that you need to use a modality until you remember that you are the magic. Once you understand that you are the magic, you’re free and you don’t need the wand anymore, or to twitch your nose, or blink your eyes. You don’t have to repeat any phrases or mantras, you just show up in your spectacular self and you bring your own magic to the party.

Life becomes so much simpler when you know who you are. At some point you have to acknowledge the magic in you and you have to realize that that five year old inside of you is the magic.  When you resolve your inner conflict with your inner-child, and your inner-child feels safe, and you’re back to being child-like again, you’re free.

Being child-like is returning to your pre-programmed, pre-conditioned self. It’s getting back to raw curiosity, pure joy, and enthusiasm. The more you realize that you are not defined by anything that is happening, the more you realize that you have the capacity to tap into your beautiful inner-child. When you connect from the beautiful being that you have in you, you’re free because that is where the magic is.

Compassionate Action: A Radical Approach To Giving Back!

helpful-team-of-social-workers-picture-id1170507240

The other day, I was on one of my rare excursions outside our home at the local grocery store. I was there with my basket of gluten-free bread, eggs, milk (okay, fine, I had a few gluten-free chocolate chip cookies in there, too!). Above the checkout area was a large, handwritten sign lettered in Sharpie that said:

“Please be kind to the staff. They are here to serve you during these trying times.”

At first, I thought, “How nice!” After all, I adore and appreciate any intentional reminder for kindness and love.

But then it occurred to me that something must have happened to require someone to take the time to write the sign and put it up. Actually, something must have happened more than once.

How many customers had snapped at the cashiers over the past 12 months? (I actually asked the cashier and she told me a few nasty stories!)

How many people had sworn at the stock clerks because there was no toilet paper left on the shelves?

How many complaints, angry voices, and frustrations had been taken out on others?

And suddenly, that sweet sign made me sad because of the hurt and suffering that was behind its creation.

Spirituality Means More Than Ever Now

woman-meditating-in-the-nature

It’s natural in troubled times for people to reflect on God and religion as a source of solace and hope, which matters more in a crisis. But with church services being so limited, not to mention the decline in organized religion that has continued for fifty years, God isn’t the pillar of faith that past generations relied on.

I don’t find myself thinking about spirituality in those terms, however. Like a winter coat that’s put away in spring, for many people religion gets put away once the crisis has passed. Crises by their nature go up and down, but the deeper need for spirituality remains. This need is rooted deeper than solace and hope. It’s the need for wisdom.  Wisdom is a word that’s open to skepticism and dismissal. Even people who think of themselves as spiritual are likely to think much more about issues like self-esteem and love.

Meditation on Winter

stillness

Great lakes, ponds, and streams freeze over; the earth grows hard and unreceptive. Tree sap stops flowing; even the air becomes dense, slow to move, and heat stealing. Yet, not everything is as it appears to be!

The pervasive stillness and deep silence of winter are powers every bit as great as are the explosive forces of spring and summer, only different. After all, what is a glacier but a vast frozen river crawling its way through time? Both are forms of water whose unstoppable might can carve their way through solid rock! So, how can we channel this power of winter, and use it to let go of whatever stands between us and the higher life we desire?

Winter is the time of the year when the forces of nature assume their most passive form. But we are discovering here that passive does not mean powerless!

The better we understand this unique power of being “passive”– and how it serves as the secret consort of all things active – the more we grow in the faith we need to be wisely passive toward whatever fears remain in us about letting go of our false self. This is why, during the dark days of winter, we should take time each day - - as often as possible - - to quietly return to the living Light that dwells in the center of ourselves.

By gathering our attention in this way, and bringing the whole of ourselves into the heart of this interior stillness, we not only collect our own forces, as nature herself is doing, but much more: in this deliberate act of gathering ourselves – and for the conscious sense of quiet contentment we find within it – we are also being released from the false idea that the source of our strength and security can be found somewhere outside us.

Once we start to see, to know in our innermost heart, that Life itself is already complete, we can let go of whatever – or whoever – would have us believe otherwise.

Mark Nepo's Weekly Reflection: Two Forms of Compassion

ocean

What is compassion but drifting in the immensity of life with an open heart? We bump into and pass by so many torn and budding lives along the way. Some are like us, many are not—on the surface, but under it all, we remain the same ounce of spirit carried in skin and bone. One of our jobs, then, is to learn how to relate to the cascade of others that rise and fall around us. The practice of compassion is how we learn that we are each other. And the practice of expression is how the heart knows itself.

Early on in life, there is an initiation into the practice of compassion through the commonality of our experience with others. If I have suffered and healed from a broken heart, then when I witness your heart breaking, I can easily identify with what you’re going through. If you’ve lost your job and come into my life when I’m laid off, we can easily meet in our common struggle through adversity. If I’ve felt betrayed by a friend or loved one and I’m with you when you are betrayed, we can quickly form a bond that will help each other through. This sort of compassion, based on our common experience, is an ongoing apprenticeship that never ends.
