Stories That Imprison Our Heart – Part 2 –

Stories That Imprison Our Heart – Part 2 –

Our suffering arises from fear-based stories that are often outside our awareness. These include stories of our deficiency or importance, of being a victim, of being unseen or unloved, of facing failure or rejection.  This is true collectively too.  We have shared stories of bad “others” that fuel wars, shared stories of the value of continued growth in consumption and production that destroy our earth, shared stories of our human right to enslave and violate other animals. We have the capacity to bring the stories that separate and imprison us into the light of awareness, and with great compassion, loosen their grip. These two talks look at the ways fear-based stories create suffering, and how awakening from them reveals the freedom of our true, and universal, belonging.

The First Shift Into Truth

This may be redundant to some of you that have read my biography, but after I took psilocybin I had a lot to protect. I had my empire that I had built, and my tenure, and all of my ‘games,’ my antiques, my airplane, and all this stuff.

First, Last…Now

First, Last…Now
There are moments in our lives when we are completely immersed in what we are doing. So much so that the past and future do not exist. Everything is fresh, new, and fascinating. We are seeing with what Buddhists call “beginner’s mind,” as if for the first time. Babies and small children see this way. People at the end of their lives often see this way too, as if for the last time. At either end of the first-last spectrum, it’s the immediacy of the experience that is so powerful. We are not lost in thought or distracted by irrelevant details. Life presents itself front and center, and it has our full attention. The question then becomes “how do we live like that all the time?” Is it even possible? I believe it is, but it is definitely a practice, not a casual, passing wish. You have to align yourself with it, make a promise within your own heart not to get lost in forgetfulness.

The Last Paradox: Does the Universe Have a Mind?

The Last Paradox: Does the Universe Have a Mind?

Until very recently it was nearly laughable among physicists to speak of a conscious universe, and yet the notion now seems to be not only respectable but necessary. The realization is dawning that a true Theory of Everything must include consciousness. Almost every scientist traces any phenomenon, including the mind, back to physical causes. This way of thinking, when applied to the issue of where consciousness comes from, implies either a very big answer or a very small one.

A Visionary Heart: Resonance to Radiance

A Visionary Heart: Resonance to Radiance

We are in a time like no other. We hear this from many pundits, teachers, internal and external. Somewhere within Collective Consciousness we know that it is a time familiar yet unknown, what we have waited for yet pulled back from, the greatest opening of the heart and darkest moments of humankind. We stand in 2 worlds. One world is what we have been acquainted with deeply within the context of space time, very much “3D” as we say. The other world is within our consciousness yet sometimes out of reach in the everyday, in some ways beyond our conditioned concepts of space time. We are experiencing this shift as we are co-creating it. We see the play out of old patterns of belief and separation while birthing the vibrational codes of Unity, Oneness and a New World. We also feel the falling away of structures, personal and social, at once with fear and delight!

Illumination on Vancouver Island

Photograph © 2017 Peggy Kornegger
There comes a time when you realize that your life doesn’t really belong to you, like a bicycle or car that you can control by shifting gears or braking. Your life is actually part of something much greater, an expansive beingness that includes you in its infinite Presence but over which you have absolutely no control. When you reach this level of awareness, this overview, you find there is nothing left to do but let go completely and turn everything over to that Presence, or God. Within this surrender is liberation. Your soul becomes the acknowledged divine force in your life, and your human personality begins to flow with that newly accelerated energy. In releasing your grip on your own life, you are free to live it the way it was designed to be lived, the way you planned it before you were even born. God and your soul have known this all along, and you recognize who you really are at exactly the right moment in the greater scheme of things. It’s called destiny.

A Different Choice

A Different Choice

Linda and I spent a wonderful two weeks in Japan. I was curious about how open the Japanese would be to authentic power and spiritual partnerships (partnerships between equals for the purpose of spiritual growth). They are very open. They drank in everything we shared and asked for more. A magazine that interviewed us last year doubled the number of pages devoted to this year’s interview and is publishing a Special Edition to feature it. People at our workshop, both men and women, who were somewhat reserved at the beginning became warm and loving family members to us and one another by the end.

Gifts from God

Gifts from God
The people in our lives are gifts from God, not there by happenstance but by design. And not to be taken for granted or overlooked but instead continuously recognized and treasured. In my day-to-day life, my spiritual path repeatedly draws me inward to a profound divine connection. Within that experience, I feel as one with everything in the cosmos. I love those experiences. They teach me again and again why I am here on this planet. Yet, what I forget sometimes is that I am also here to connect with my fellow human beings, to be a part of their lives and have them be a part of mine. Meditation and inner journeys are extraordinary, but this Earth experience when shared at the deepest level with others is equally extraordinary. Without it, your heart can never crack open wide enough to let the divine in—or out.

How do We Work with Power?

How do We Work with Power?

When I was in India, this very powerful Shiva swami took me at four in the morning and lead me down the street.

He took me up to a little temple at the top of the street, and he whispered a mantra into my ear. He did puja (prayer) over me for two hours, and I went out of my consciousness, I went out somewhere, I don’t know where I went, and later they came and whispered in my ear and brought me back. I couldn’t stop doing this mantra, and I said to him, “What’s that mantra Baba-ji?” He said, “It will give you vast wealth and vast power.” So I said, “But I don’t want that wealth and vast power unless you will promise me an equal amount of love and compassion.” It’s a nice thing to have said, and he said to me… “Just do the mantra.”

Closing the Truth Gap and How to Close It

Closing the Truth Gap and How to Close It

There's a truth gap that has nothing to do with facts versus lies in politics. Rather, it has to do with how we verify that something is true. Without doing it consciously, everyone shifts their “mode of knowing” all the time. That phrase is necessary because everyday truth is relative. It depends on what viewpoint you take and nothing else. For example, everyone trusts their five senses, but when the eyes tell us that the sun rises over the horizon in the morning, we shift our mode of knowing because intellectually that sensory perception isn’t true. If looking at a sunset makes us happy, we are shifting into an inner knowing that’s entirely private, since only the person having an emotion knows that it is real.

Radical Compassion – Part 2

image: Sonnenstrahl/Pixabay.com

Compassion is the medicine we most need as individuals and a species to heal suffering and free our spirits. The essence of compassion for ourselves and others – what I call Radical Compassion – has three key elements: it is an embodied experience (a felt sense of tenderness), it is inclusive all beings, and it naturally moves us to act from a caring heart. This two-part talk explores the alchemy of Radical Compassion and guides us in awakening this intrinsic expression of our evolutionary potential.

Is There “Instant” Enlightenment?

Is There “Instant” Enlightenment?
Most people look upon enlightenment—whatever the term means to them-as remote, exotic, and unattainable without extreme effort. Enlightenment is the state a Tibetan Buddhist monk may reach after decades of mediation, or a yogi performing esoteric practices in a cave in the Himalayas. Yet if you strip away the Eastern esoteric context that has become attached to the word “enlightenment,” whatever it is must be a state of awareness. You can’t be enlightened and not know it. (Or if you don’t know it, you must have slipped into this state of awareness very, very gradually.)

Where Exactly Is God?

Where Exactly Is God?
This is a question that many of us may have asked at different times in our lives, either from curiosity or in frustration. In this week’s video blog, I talk about both of these ways of wondering about God’s existence—whatever word you wish to use for Source energy or universal consciousness—and my own thoughts on where it can be found.

Finding a Way to Live in Our Truth

Finding a Way to Live in Our Truth

Knowing you’re God and being God are two different things.

I mean intellectually, we all know we’re God – most of us understand that. But the direct experience of merging into it is another matter. What seems to happen as you evolve spiritually is that the impurities or the things that veil you from being your deepest truth, become more unbearable.

Why You Aren't Who You Think You Are

Why You Aren't Who You Think You Are

Each of us perceives reality through the filter of a personal self, an "I" that is unique in the world, thanks to the unique experiences we've had since birth. We rely on "I" to be able to navigate through everyday situations, not realizing how limiting "I" actually is. It's fair to say that few people realize how unstable and distorted their sense of self is. To begin with, each of us filters out an enormous portion of the input we receive at a given moment.

Life's Mystery

Life's Mystery

Some Native Americans use the term "Great Mystery" to refer to the concept of God or Source energy. It’s such a wonderful usage because within it, humans step back and allow the unknown to be just that—unknown. Many religions spell out the specific attributes of God, the heavenly realm, and its relation to living beings on Earth, including sets of rigid moral codes and laws/commandments. How much more open-ended is the idea of a mystery that we will never understand with the human mind. Our hearts can experience God or the Divine, but we cannot solve the enigma of existence. Perhaps the greatest wisdom lies in acknowledging that and allowing the Mystery to live within and through us without trying to understand it.

Have Human Beings Stopped Evolving?

Have Human Beings Stopped Evolving?

No idea has become baked into the social fabric than Darwinism, and yet Darwin himself never meant this to happen. In his mind, he was scientifically describing "the descent of species," a specific notion of how life forms changed over time. Evolution was a rebuttal of the prevailing concept that species were fixed--if honeybees, ferns, and pandas exist, they always had. The momentous discovery of fossils, among other things, offered irrefutable evidence that species could vanish, and more importantly, that current species had ancestors.
