The Invaluable Skill of Paying Attention

There's a common grumble, generally directed at the young, that they are constantly distracted by texting, video games, and other ways to stop paying attention. But few of us have truly mastered the skill of paying attention, or even realize that it is a skill. This is because we haven't looked deeply into how awareness works.

Attention, which is another way of describing focused awareness, is important because whatever you pay attention to grows in importance and significance. If you focus on your job, your relationship, or a favorite hobby, your attention nourishes a feedback loop--you become better at what you pay attention to. Your brain strengthens or weakens in specific areas depending on the input it receives, and paying attention provides concentrated input. Attention can’t be faked or forced. When a schoolteacher scolds an unruly class with, “Pay attention, people!” he may get results for a few minutes, but the demand loses its effect very quickly. Asking a restless mind to settle down and pay attention is even more futile. The secret is to know how attention can be mastered.

Gifts of the Full Moon

Understand your very being is surrounded by love and protected by all that is...  Rest in knowing you are never alone and always, only one thought from peace.

A little over a year ago I began working with a young woman that was seeking significant changes in her life. In one of our first sessions together my client, Dalia, wrote down her very defined goals.  Through the year she quickly moved through her list. She was blessed with much success.  Her greatest desire, a second child, is on the way.

As I write this we are moving into the full moon of August. Dalia has felt her body preparing to bring new life into our world. It is the perfect time for her new baby girl to bring joy and love into the lives of others. It is also the perfect time for this baby to meet her family and experience the human connection through love.

At one point in my life I worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery. I discovered every birth to be a powerful experience.  Each start of life is different and each one carries a powerful story. All deliveries bring new energy into our world.

A mother and new baby experienced a transition into an eternal relationship. Even if the baby is not raised by the biological parents, a relationship has been established.

Spending time in OB Triage, where prenatal ultra sounds are provided, was one of my favorite jobs. The ultra sounds allowed us to peek into the babies’ world while they grew. The fluid movements and the maternal connection through the umbilical cord always fascinated me.  It seemed so magical; and truly it is.

Tap your extreme potential and emerge a true winner

Are you a procrastinator, are you constantly wondering how can you get rid of this crazy, lazy habit. Have you been constantly and deliberately putting things off because you are feeling too lazy for the moment, and then watching yourself observing your own behavior like another person objectively.

Some of us amazingly put our whole lives on hold due to this habit of ours, and no matter how frustrated we feel about our own attitude, we are not able to step away from it. I have noticed that with most procrastinators, tasks which are the closest to their hearts are kept for tackling last, as they are trying to fit in all the boring, cliched ones in their ' to do' list. They do not realize that somewhere at the back of their minds, stress has crept in. The more they think of their favorite task, the more they push it farther away thinking that it will be easily accomplished as they would like doing it. They feel the urgency to complete the boring tasks first. Stress levels keep mounting as time keeps passing by.

Another Day in Paradise

When I used to take walks at my favorite nature sanctuary, Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I often thought to myself, “This is paradise,” as I gazed up at the towering oak and maple trees and listened to the varied birdsongs. Now that I live in Florida, I find myself feeling much the same way. Each morning after sunrise, I walk the nature trail that encircles the perimeter of the community where we live, enjoying the palm trees and flowering bushes and the calls of birds that make Florida home. This morning at the end of my walk, another walker passed me, said “Good morning,” and commented, “Another day in paradise.” I laughed and agreed with him. Most people I pass on my walks make some similar comment about the beauty of the day.

The salad bar of life

This is the way I look at life… everyone gets to choose what they want, and what they want has nothing to do with you… You will never be good enough, nice enough, rich enough.. to change someone else. It won’t happen. People change when they are ready to change… if ever. So, when someone chooses something different than what you think they should have, it is not personal. It is simply what they want, in that moment. Whether they are choosing what you feel is best for them or not, they are, at that time..choosing what they believe will “taste” good.

I love the metaphor of the message below. It is one of the ways I too, look at life so I wanted to share it. I believe it explains something complicated in a very simplified way.

“We want you to enjoy the contrasting experience, just like you enjoy the contrasting buffet. And we want you to reach the place that whenever you’re in front of a buffet that has so much that you do like to eat, as well as some that you don’t like to eat, you don’t feel frustrated that there are things there you don’t want to eat. You don’t feel compelled to put them on your plate and eat them; you just pick the things that you like. And the Universe of thought is the same way. You can choose from it the things that you like.”

9 Stress Relief Tips For Busy Lifestyles

Running a business with events, speaking engagements, and meetings one right after the other on top of working with my team, I know first-hand how stressful and exhausting having a busy lifestyle can be. But I also know first-hand how to make sure you don’t burn out or find yourself helpless, irritable, and unhappy. Here are 9 of the best stress relief tips for when you find yourself extra busy.

1. Eat Healthy and Exercise

It’s easy to want to jump out of bed and get right to work, skipping meals, grabbing fast food, and neglecting exercise when you live a busy lifestyle. But starting every day off right with healthy food, water and exercise is essential to success.

If you were going on a long trip in your high-performance car, would you fill it with the wrong kind of gas?

Of course not, it would be hard on the engine – remember your body is your engine, and it must come first.

Consider this…

What If You Could Turn All Your Wrong-Doers Into Angels

Imagine this…… one day - seemingly out of the blue - you have an awareness that all your rejections and “failures” are gifts, and all the “wrong-doers” in your life are actually,  angels and/or spiritual guides - leading you (or knocking you back) to your true path.

If a person throws you away,

Say thank you.

If you get fired from a job,

Say thank you.

If your forever relationship ends,

Say thank you.

If no one shows up for your event

Say thank you.

If you keep hitting walls,

Say thank you (and look for a door!)

Re-igniting the passion

I often consider the reasons why we lose sight of our true passions, why is it that life just gets in the way, why we find excuses for not doing the things that feed and nurture our souls. Surely, our entire body (that being our mind, body AND soul) is often focusohned on doing what we love most.

When we’re doing a job that we love, it often makes you happy, the days just slip by without that feeling of dread, when we say: “I’ve got to go to work today …” or “oh, the start of another week!”. Of course, I am not advocating that life is always perfect or that “stuff” doesn’t get in the way of pursuing your dreams and passions. When you’re dealing with the death of a loved one, it can be all consuming as many of you will know, and life can be temporarily put on hold, while you cope with the seesaw emotional roller-coaster. Equally, if you’re moving home or changing jobs, these are stressful times when your passions have to be put on the back-burner, as there’s often just not enough bandwidth in such a busy schedule.

10 Steps to Authenticity

The longest, most challenging journey I have ever taken was the one getting home to my true self. It took decades to arrive and I willingly chose to make many side trips through roles, responsibilities, expectations, careers, and marriages where I had to work day and night to become something other than who I truly was. But when I finally found my way back to the real me, the honest me, the most authentic me, there was no greater joy.

I’m not talking about a perfect version of me. I’m referring to the me as I am right now. Comfortable in my 60s. Curly, messy hair. The butt and boobs of a real woman. Wrinkles around my eyes and mouth from smiling at my husband and laughing at my children. It’s me waking up at 3 AM and still worrying about finances. And it’s me dancing around with my iPhone plugged into my ears, joyfully singing Streisand’s “Don’t Rain On My Parade.” Like I said, it's all about being yourself.

Carrying the Water

When overwhelmed by the suffering, bring water to the first you find. When you can’t grasp, embody.

A Question to Walk With: Describe a time when you have been caretaker and when you have been a gatekeeper and what led you to each position. How do you understand the difference in what led you to each position? All life depends on water. As such, access to water has become a universal right in the world, regardless of faith, country, privilege, or poverty. Throughout the world, in a legal and common law way, people, corporations, and countries have access to water, but no one owns the water. What this means is that if a river passes through your land, you can use it, but not divert it, dam it, stop its flow, or damage its purity as it passes through your land to another.

This says a great deal about our responsibility as guardians of what passes through our care. It says that the deepest resources are not ownable, but shared and passed on. As such, we can easily equate water with Spirit, wisdom, and the communal ways of being. We can also call that deeper stream which no one owns, the common good. For all life depends on the common good, which passes like a river through the land of our care. Just like water, we can use each other and honor each other, but not divert one another, dam one another up, stop each other’s flow, or pollute the common good as it passes through our hands to another.

What Illusions Are You Caught in?

When your painful emotions seem to be caused by something outside of you, you are in an illusion. For example, your child falls from a tree, and you feel fear, anxiety, and panic. The fall seems to have caused these emotions, but if you look inside yourself, you will see that they are not new. You have experienced these emotions before, even before you had a child! The fall activated dynamics inside you and they cause the painful emotions that you experience. Other events will continue to activate them until you become familiar with these internal dynamics and move beyond their control.

How? The one word that stifles manifestation

Someone asked me today what my “secret” to manifesting is, and quite simply the answer is “I remember that at the quantum level what I’ve asked for IS already mine.”

In the “field” we are ALREADY connected to that which we desire.

When you spend your time in a state of deep gratitude, for whatever it is that you seek, you are affirming and living as if in such a way that it manifests more quickly into the 3-D world.

What did I do? I hosted the 2nd annual OraclePalooza®.

It was a dream come true to have close to 300 people join me for my yearly giant Oracle Card party and celebration event. Everyone brought amazing positive energy and dove into up-leveling exercises all while sharing their hearts, smiles, and so much joy. The Power of Sharing Your Goals With Others

An individual’s goals are very personal. In fact, a well thought out goal hints at the person’s vulnerability and deepest desires. Not only do goals reflect a person’s desires, goals also have the incredible power to change a person’s life – if executed well of course.

However, due to the nature of such goals, people have a tendency to keep their goals and visions to themselves. But, there is great power in goal sharing.

The Power of Goal Sharing

Sharing your goals in life with others is an important success principle.

Have you ever wondered why weight loss apps encourage individuals to connect with other users, to post their weight loss goals, and their successes?

We are all born, and we will all die.

Yet when it happens, we seem surprised and ask WHY?

As human beings we all have one thing in common.

Igniting The Fire of Your Inner Desire

Last week I had a true proud mama moment!  I flew to L.A. to attend the premiere of a series pilot that was created, written, produced, and acted in by my 25 and 27 year old daughters.  Although as a mom, I was pinching myself watching what they have accomplished, the truth is I am always in awe of people who start with a passing conversation or idea and then actually make it happen!

Many of us have a great thought or a brainstorm yet it never gets off the ground or comes to fruition.  So when it comes to:

  • creating something from nothing,
  • doing something you have never done before, or
  • putting yourself out there in a whole new way,

What drives those who do versus those who just think or talk about it?

What have they tapped into inside themselves that fuels their fire and carries their commitment

Answer???  Desire!

Desire is the most important catalyst for bringing about radical change.

Daily Practices for a Happier Life and Better World

The dangers of the corporatocracy and the Death Economy – a world created by economic hit men and now manipulated by many of our “leaders” – and the powers of the rising Consciousness Revolution: These were the topics of the three speeches and numerous media interviews I gave at the Melting Pot conference help within the Colours of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. It was attended by more than 50,000 people in late July 2018.

It was an amazing event, a happening of world-class musicians, quantum physicists, media giants, philosophers, economists, and thinkers from many walks of life. To me, the venue itself represented the transition from a Death to a Life Economy, our evolution into a new consciousness. A huge and once highly successful coal mine/steel mill that went bankrupt because it used up all its coal has now been converted into a magnificent series of stages and auditoriums. This symbol of the Death Economy now conveys inspiration, hope, joy, and – above all – ideas for catapulting humankind into the new era, a Life Economy.

I can’t begin to express the extent of my joy at how the teachings and prophecies of the indigenous people I’ve so often written about are being manifest in places like Ostrava. As the groups I take to the Achuar of the Amazon, Kogi of Colombia, and Maya of Guatemala learn, we all come from indigenous ancestors who are part of (versus “apart from”) nature. They know that a Life Economy that is itself a renewable resource is essential to the future survival of our species and many other species. They live in a present that supports the long-term, unlike the Death Economy that advocates a materialist, greedy and selfish present and insists on maximizing short-term profits.

The 4 P's on how to become a conscious creator: Persuasion, Practice, Positivity and Play

Upon opening my eyes I stare out in amazement. I find myself sitting in a sturdy canoe floating adrift in a sea of infinite possibility, reading between the stars for a secret perspective that will allow me to channel one of the most powerful forces in the universe. A paddle rests across my lap, out before me, a sea as still as glass patiently awaits my intention, my direction. Which current do I choose? I know I must choose wisely, for the action of my paddle will inspire a gentle yet irrevocable ripple, a wave that will propel me forward through space and time and will determine my destination.

As we each navigate a life full of boundless possibility it would be helpful to imagine that our physical surroundings are in fact a fluid sea of energy in which everything resonates to a particular, measurable frequency. All our actions, emotions, thoughts, and desires manifest in our minds at certain wavelengths that exert a magnetic influence on occurrences with matching frequencies. Whatever we give our attention to, positive or negative, causes us to emit an electromagnetic signal that resonates with the world around us and will attract a matching signal back.

This force is commonly known as the Law of Attraction and is always in effect, even when we’re not aware of it. Without our focused attention, we simply create by default. It is only when we turn our attention to our thoughts and energetic signalling and deliberately offer them with the intention to accomplish our heartfelt desires, that we can master the art of attraction and become conscious creators. That is what we all need to strive for, and here are some tips that may help you to achieve that.
