How To Let The Past Go

What do you need to let go of from your past that no longer serves you?

Holding onto your past limits your ability to be fully present in the present. But we often hold on because it feels comfortable and familiar. We hold on because we want to be right. We hold on because it sometimes seems safer.

It’s easy to judge your past, especially things you did that you wish you hadn’t. Or people you were once in relationship with.

Judging yourself for your past gives the past more power, and simply keeps you stuck there.

To let go of the past, it’s important to accept it and to THANK it. Give thanks for the experience and bless it. This frees you from being it’s prisoner and creates openness to receive the gift that your past has for you.

Your soul needed to go through certain experiences to grow and evolve. More important than what you went through in your past is that you learned the soul lessons those experiences were seeking to teach you.

Life cares about your growth and evolution more than your comfort. So long as you are growing, you are successful.

You are not a victim of anything from your past.

Just because you made your bed, doesn’t mean you have to continue lying in it.

I am not denying that things may have happened that you had no control over at the time or were incredibly painful. However, today you get to choose what you make those experiences mean, and what actions you take from this moment forward.

It’s important to make a choice to not indulge the story or negativity about your past. No matter how much you complain or cry, it won’t change what has already happened. It won’t bring back a person or relationship. Nothing you do in this moment will change what has already been done. But everything that you do in this moment will change your future.

Your past only has as much power as you give it. Focus on what is in your power to control now.

You hold the lock and you hold the key to set yourself free.

So don’t avoid or run away from the painful emotions from your past as this will only keep you stuck. This will likely lead to you recreating situations over and over again in your life rather than moving on.

What you run from will run you.

So face and feel whatever feelings you haven’t dealt with. All feelings fully felt will dissolve. No feelings last forever, unless you suppress them.

When you stop resisting whatever happened, and move into acceptance, it’s only then that you can truly let it go.

Nothing and no one is worth your freedom.

Life is short.

Each moment is precious.

Let go of what no longer serves you and give yourself permission to celebrate the life you have.

Accept what was.

Feel what is.

Choose what is going to be.

It’s the choices you make today that will shape your tomorrow.

What do you want your tomorrow to look like?

You have the power.
