Getting Over A Toxic Relationship Using Polyvagal Theory

Getting Over A Toxic Relationship Using Polyvagal Theory

Toxic relationships create ripples throughout our mind and our body. In a toxic relationship, our mind reads cues and our body responds in ways that are effective coping mechanisms for that relationship. However, these responses to social cues are often not effective or helpful in a new relationship or when trying to heal from a dysfunctional and toxic partner.

Our body responses, emotional regulation, and even the fear response to social cues are controlled by the vagal nerve. Depending on our experiences and the specific situation, we may have different responses than others around us, which is important to understand in healing after the trauma of experiencing a toxic relationship.

Expansion, Not Decline

Expansion, Not Decline - Peggy Kornegger

Is your body demanding your attention lately? Are your emotions on edge? Do you feel as if your health is declining, your sense of optimism impaired? You are not alone. Almost everyone I know has been facing some kind of physical issue or challenge over the past year or so, including myself. Breast cancer flipped my daily world view upside-down. Yet, as I gradually learned to experience it with a peaceful, accepting heart, calm arose within me to face whatever I needed to without despair or negativity. My soul guided my body, mind, and feelings throughout. Sometimes we have to pass through depression or emotional upset to reach that overview, but it can happen. This is the challenge of these times we are living through, especially during a global pandemic.

The Living, Breathing Record of Your Unconscious

The Living, Breathing Record of Your Unconscious- Panache Desai

The Last part of us to shift is the body. In India, when all of the different practices were created, they were created to work on us in different ways. And the reason for that is they understood that we exist at different rates of vibration. Emotions exist at a different rate of vibration, thought exists at a different rate of vibration, and the body exists in a different vibration.

It’s time we address the body. Your body is like a hard drive. What is it recording? It’s recording the residual memory of you – who you used to be, how you used to be, emotions from the past. Your body is a living, breathing record of your unconscious. This is why in mystery schools and ancient transformative processes, there was always a physical component to one’s development. Because at some point, there has to be a cellular rotation and as a result, a vibrational rotation within one’s being

Imagine for a moment if the body is the hard drive, then the identity is what is continuing to hold the pain, the trauma, the suffering, the separation in place. Whatever is happening in your body is because of who you are at the level of your identity.

Your Body Is One Big Psychic Antenna

YOUR BODY IS ONE BIG PSYCHIC ANTENNA - John Holland

Did you know that you’re already equipped with one of the most fundamental pieces of equipment to provide you with an endless supply of psychic information and guidance?

It’s your body! You need look no further than your own physical body for answers.

I got my first real lesson in listening to my body when I was involved in a near-fatal automobile accident. You probably remember me talking about this in my first book Born Knowing. The shock to my system from the accident resulted in my energy centers or chakras being forced open. I soon realized that my abilities, which I’d so often pushed away, were back with a strength and intensity that I’d never experienced before.

Order Out of Chaos: Why You Aren’t a Hurricane

deepak12.27.21 Deepak Chopra, M.D., Brian J. Fertig, M.D. and Jack A. Tuszynski, Ph.D., D.Sc.

One of the mysteries of human existence is the fact that you do not fly apart into a cloud of atoms and molecules but instead hold together as a living, breathing, thinking organism. It is said that we live on the edge of chaos, because the human body has adapted to counter an enormous range of accidents, mistakes, wounds, illnesses, and stresses that would cause a non-living system to be wrecked.

A simple example is your joints. You bend and unbend your fingers hundreds of times a day. Take a bar of steel and bend it hundreds of times. It will break, which your fingers don’t. In fact, they get better at whatever they are doing, such as practicing the piano, a repeated activity that creates more order even though playing the piano or violin demands unending movements that look random if you happen to be deaf.

The study of chaos has progressed far enough that you can take any phenomenon, from the weather to a beating heart, traffic patterns to brain waves, and study it as the contest between order and chaos. Your life depends on the predictable (orderly) sequence of events that produces a healthy heartbeat, and if the sequence gets out of sync, the heart can go into irregular activity anywhere from a benign irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) to a random convulsion (fibrillation) that proves fatal.

“You Are What You Eat” Should Be “You Are What You Ate”

deepak12.20 Deepak Chopra, M.D., Brian J. Fertig, M.D. and Jack A. Tuszynski, Ph.D., D.Sc.

There have been exciting discoveries about the microbiome that lead to a radical change in how we view the human body. “Microbiome” is a new name for something long known about, the teeming colonies of bacteria and fungi that exist all around the body. We need these micro-organisms in order to digest food, but the existence of so-called “intestinal flora” isn’t news either. So why did the microbiome become exciting?

The biggest reason can be summarized as “The microbiome is us.” Instead of being invaders or microscopic hitchhikers, the microbiome represents the continuity of life itself. Microbial DNA is woven into human DNA, which immediately tells us that far from being enemy germs, thousands of species of bacteria, viruses, and fungi brought our ancestors the news of the world as it applies to the evolution of life. A world cloud of DNA moves in, around, and through every living thing.

In natural history museums our hominid ancestors look small and primitive, but there is an invisible link that binds us to them, the microbiome. There are other microbiome locations in the mouth, on the skin, and in the armpits and groin, but let’s limit ourselves to the gut microbiome, since it is incredibly complex, with an estimated 2,000 species of microbial life, and it is life-giving.

Reversal Of Aging Is Here. How Far Can It Go?

deepak11.15a By Deepak Chopra, MD and Shai Efrati, MD

The ability to reverse aging is now in everyone’s hands, although they might not realize it. Aging is reversed anytime you experience the following:

Healing from an illness or wound. Healing restores the body to a state before the setback occurred.

Returning to the markers of youth: Youth is marked by energy, vitality, freedom of motion, normal blood pressure, physical strength, and other markers that can be restored at any time of life. Going to the gym, meditating to reduce your blood pressure, keeping up your support system of family and friends, and undertaking creative projects that bring you joy are just a few ways to reverse the tendencies of aging.

Having a positive mindset. We act out our beliefs, and when people believed that life after 65 should be spent in a rocking chair out of sight from younger people, that mindset made old age a penance. For several decades, however, the “new old age” has revolutionized our mindset, and people see old age as vigorous, creative, productive, and a source of contentment.

My invitation – for a moment, embrace What Is and Be Bliss...

drsue10.8

There is so much unfolding for so many in the world right now. My invitation is to embrace, with loving presence, what it is you are feeling in your body.

Do you desire to walk, talk, live, and breathe as one who allows life to unfold magnificently, no matter what is happening "out there?" You have the ability to integrate, live, and manifest as the Essence you are so that you consciously receive deep truth from the universe.

As we pay attention to what's happening in the body and ignite circuitry, we discover how to live without being stopped by the hesitations, procrastinations, or self doubt we land in when our thinking mind simply doesn't “know” the answer.

Particularly right now, mass consciousness is powerful. When “the news” tells us how "things are going to be," and we believe what they say; it's what happens. The news precedes reality because our thoughts precede reality. I'm not saying to completely disconnect or ignore the world. However, when you plug in, pay attention to the body, notice where there is a charge, and build circuits.

Tame Emotional Eating So You Can Start Eating Intuitively

BradleyN8.9.21

Have you heard of intuitive eating? Hailed as a “revolutionary anti-diet,” intuitive eating is the practice of learning to listen to your body to decide what, when and how much to eat.

This idea may be appealing to people who have struggled to stay on restrictive or temporary diets. What could be simpler and more freeing than tuning into your body’s need for healthy food?

Before you try any kind of intuitive eating approach, it’s important to address the reasons why you eat — particularly any emotional triggers you may have around eating.

Emotions influence how we eat in complex and subtle ways, research has found. Emotional eating is also linked with obesity. Many people use food to reduce their underlying experience of feelings such as anger, sadness, or loneliness.

Why is it important to address the underlying reasons why we eat before trying intuitive eating? Human society has programmed people to eat for a huge variety of non-nutritive reasons. We eat for fun. We eat to socialize. We eat because the TV is on. We eat because the clock says it’s time. And for a lot of us, we eat to subconsciously — or even consciously — to medicate our emotions.

Staying Cool: Balancing Pitta Dosha

coolingoff

Pitta is one of the three psycho-physiological elements that govern the different activities of mind and body. Composed of fire and water, Pitta dosha governs metabolism and transformation in the body, including digestion. Pitta is associated with heat, and its effects are especially felt during the hot summer, from July to October. Whether you have a lot of Pitta in your constitution or not, you need to pay attention to pacifying Pitta during the summer.

Signs of an aggravated Pitta include excess stomach acid, heartburn, skin eruptions and irritability. Following a Pitta-pacifying diet can help keep this fiery element in balance.

The Mind-Body Connection Comes To Mental Health

mindbodyfood By Naveen Jain and Deepak Chopra™, MD

In very important ways mind and body are being connected as never before. The separate specialities that modern medicine is divided into are blurring around the edges. This is particularly true when it comes to mental health, which has long been outside the skill, or interest, of M.D.s who are not psychiatrists.

As mental health is increasingly connected to the body, it is becoming clear that a faraway region like the intestine, and its population of micro-organisms known as the microbiome, plays a major role in a person’s moods and general susceptibility to anxiety and depression, both of which rose alarmingly during the COVID crisis.

By now most people have learned at least the basics about the gut microbiome. Its teeming microbes are essential for digestion, and the proportions of thousands of species of bacteria are dynamically changing all the time. The advent of the microbiome is barely a decade old as a serious subject of study, but research has progressed rapidly.

You don’t really know your own body unless you have absorbed the following facts:

Becoming Infinite Fully and Completely

Becoming_Infinite

This is an insight into how transformation actually unfolds in every moment. So just in case you’re not good at math, don’t panic.

When you introduce infinity into any equation, it becomes infinite. Why is this important? Because your soul is infinite. The parts of you that’s divine. The part of you that has God, is infinite and your presence exists outside of time. It exists outside of space. And so when we begin to have moments of transcendence, and we begin to have moments of experiencing who we are beyond the identity, beyond the body and the mind, and beyond the emotions, we begin to tap into the infinite within us. Once we have that experience, even for a moment, it begins to dissolve everything inside of us until eventually everything inside of us becomes infinite as well.

So for example, if you’ve been coming to Call to  Calm, your relationship with your emotions, your thoughts, your body, and your reality has fundamentally shifted. Why is that? Because you’re no longer perceiving or experiencing your reality from a finite perspective or viewpoint. You’re now beginning to perceive and experience your reality from an infinite viewpoint, from an infinite perspective, meaning that you’re remembering I’m not these emotions,  I’m not these thoughts. I’m not this body. What I am is this infinite continuum, this infinite expression of energy.

One Thing Modern Medicine Got Wrong: The Human Body

human By Srinivasan S. Pillay, M.D. and Deepak Chopra™, M.D.

A strange fact that nobody seems to act upon is this: The body you see in the mirror isn’t your real body. The image you see is of a solid physical object, stable and fixed like a table or chair. But in reality your body is fluid, constantly changing, filled with numerous spaces, and the host of trillions of bacteria. All of this is more you than the you see in the mirror.

The old saying, “What you see is what you get” doesn’t fit our bodies. Consider the billions of cells that die and are replaced every day. They are like the bricks in a house that vanish while building remains intact. If you accept this as the truth, modern medicine is challenged at the core, because medical students are taught to treat the body they see. You might even say that in most cases they are taught to treat only the body they see.

The model taught in medical school is common to all the sciences. It is known as naïve realism. What makes it naïve is the assumption that the world delivered by the five senses, but especially the visible world of objects, is enough to describe reality. In other words, “What you see is what you get.” Develop the most powerful microscope you can imagine, and you will see what Nature is all about.
