It's easy to forget that we are all perfect in our own design. Sometimes we muck it up with habits and choices that do not serve us.

This Is What Happens When You Open Your Eyes

Yep, he’s at it again.

Pope Francis that is. That man has a way of getting above the noise and it’s not just because he’s the Pope. Pope Benedict rarely got my attention, but this guy… well, he’s different.

This week, Pope Francis spoke up about climate change. He directed his message at all of us and sounded an alarm that if we don’t review the choices we’re making about Mother Earth, then there will be hell to pay.

Okay, he didn’t actually say “hell,” but that was the gist. He warned that “history will judge us for our decisions” and that we “will go down” if humans fail to curb climate change. But, it was this line from his speech that really stopped me in my tracks: “When you don’t want to see … you don’t see.”

Why Your Dream Is Already A Reality

The core basis of my belief and understanding about manifestation (whether you are manifesting love, a car, a new career, or a new little black dress) is this:

There is no “time.”  The past, present, and future all happen simultaneously.

When we have a desire for something, it’s because some part of us “already knows that this is possible for us,” on an unseen level.

Your dream is not some random thing out there somewhere; it is already in existence, calling upon you to dream it into your existence.

To do this, we must be willing to own and embrace the dream or desire and then take the necessary, appropriate action steps to bring it into 3-D reality.

5 Steps To Get Through Challenging Days

In life there will be rough days. Days that are stressful and discouraging externally and internally.  Days when you’re feeling apprehension, worry, doubt and fear. There will be days when external circumstances cause your mind to wreck internal havoc. There will be times you feel overwhelmed and unsure of what decisions to make; and times when you have no idea how things are going to work out. At times you’ll find yourself questioning the choices you’ve made, and wondering if you’ve made the ‘right’ decisions for your life.

When these days come; breathe. Remember you’re not alone. During this journey of life everyone has moments or days when life is challenging.

If you’ve embarked on a path towards increased internal awareness and spiritual enlightenment it can be easy to think something is wrong when you feel this way. Nothing is wrong; it’s normal. You’re alive and challenging times are a component of being human. Feeling is an occupational hazard of life that no one escapes.

Making Magic: It’s easier than you think

I was blessed to learn about the powers and magic of manifesting on September 12, 1984.  My life changed that day and since then I have devoted my life to mastering the art and science of what we now call The Law of Attraction.

Every time I manifest something (which is usually at least once a day) I am still delighted and surprised that it worked!

Sometimes my desires are met in mere minutes, other times it can take weeks or even months, but eventually, always, my desires are almost always met with what I asked for, or I get something better.

How To Deal With Difficult Times

If you think you F*#ked up God’s plan for your life, rest assured, you are not that powerful.

Just because you don’t understand how your life is unfolding, doesn’t mean it isn’t working out perfectly.

It’s easy to be hard on yourself and beat yourself up thinking you shouldn’t be where you are. But this doesn’t serve anything.

Be compassionate with yourself and learn the lessons that you need to learn from the situation.

When your life falls apart, it’s easy to go into fear, contract and collapse. The tendency you might have is to lose faith, panic, and hold onto to the life that you have created.

When your life falls apart, it’s easy to see it as bad, but what if it was a blessing in disguise. Consider that the universe is clearing away whatever is no longer in alignment with your highest good and making space for your bigger blessings.

What I Learned During My Spiritual Break

I’m writing this as I would write a note to a friend who I haven’t spoken to in awhile. I’m back from my self-imposed spiritual break and wanted to check in. How are you? How is your world? How are you feeling on this day about our larger world?

I know I don’t have to ask that question of Mother Earth. She feels as angry as she’s ever been. But, I hope those living directly in her path feel supported by the outpouring of love, unity and assistance that is coming their way.

At a time like this, it almost feels mundane for me to talk about my time away this past month. But, The Sunday Paper is dedicated to trying to provide a sanctuary and a moment of reprieve from the storms that surround us — be they climate-related, political, or otherwise. So, if you don’t mind, I’ll bring you up to date on my last few weeks.

My time away in August was wonderful and productive. Before I left, I wrote down a list of intentions for my break. I wanted to step back from the noise of our world so that I could reflect, reconnect and approach my life and work with a renewed sense of passion and purpose.

There were so many times along the way that I wanted to jump back into the world of social media to comment on this or that (North Korea, Charlottesville, Heather Heyer and her inspiring mom, Houston and Hurricane Harvey, etc…) So many times that I wanted to drive my car back into the office so that I could feel plugged in, connected and purposeful. But, I didn’t.

Dr. Wayne Dyer’s Greatest Hits!

He was a Seeker. A Philosopher. A Devotee of Self-Realization. An inspiring Speaker. Dr. Wayne Dyer. He was a phenomenon.

He died in 2015, just past two years ago. So that’s not why I’m writing this.

At the moment Dyer’s publisher, Hay House, is making available Free a set of video clips that show how he could take complex wisdom of the ages and make it understandable and accessible to those of us who are still mortals. They’re offering it for “a limited time only”.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

Wayne Dyer first came on the scene with a book called
Your Erroneous Zones, in 1976. As of now it’s estimated it has sold 35 million copies, making it one of the best selling books of all time.

Will the Gut-Brain Connection Revolutionize Wellness?

Three decades ago, the brain lost its sovereignty as the seat of thinking, feeling, and the operation of intelligence. In fact, those processes began to escape the confines of the nervous system itself. All of this occurred when it was discovered that various “messenger molecules” associated with the brain are in fact circulating throughout the body via the bloodstream. Every cell is eavesdropping on the brain’s activity, sending and receiving messages identical to those that the brain processes.

Over the next three decades, the realization that what we dub “intelligence” is a holistic feature of the body, the main difference being that outside the brain, this intelligence is nonverbal. The immune system’s incredible ability to identify and combat invading bacteria and viruses, in fact, has earned it the nickname of the floating brain. Everywhere researchers looked, new avenues were opening in a virtual information superhighway that reaches everywhere, and now it is possible to redefine wellness in terms of a “whole system” approach that has no need to recognize the artificial boundaries between brain and body, neurons and other cells, or even the distinction between human DNA and the countless other microbial genes that reside inside us.

5 Leadership Traits of Great Leaders

Becoming a leader gives you the opportunity to magnify your impact in the world. It allows you to leverage the hearts and actions of others toward the achievement of goals and objectives that you care about. It allows you to produce bigger results faster than you could ever do on your own. And while we’re not all destined to become leaders on a level with John F. Kennedy, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs or Mother Teresa, we can all learn to develop our leadership skills for positive impact in our organizations and our local communities.

Mud in Your Eyes

What do you do when life events hit you hard, knocking you to the ground, facedown in the mud? When you lose your job, your home, or your health? When a hurricane, flood, or other environmental disaster devastates your city or town? Does “oneness” or “universal love” have any relevance in a world full of pain and suffering? Having faced job loss, financial uncertainty, and health challenges myself at different times in my life, I know there are no simple answers to such difficult questions.

Temple of the Moon at Huayna Picchu – One of Peru’s best-kept secrets?

Machu Picchu is arguably one of the greatest archaeological finds of the twentieth century and a must-visit site on most Peru itineraries. Fewer visitors, however, make the steep ascent up Huayna Picchu, and fewer still venture to the hidden Temple of the Moon.

The impressive, and well photographed, Huayna Picchu

Balance a Real Thing?

Balance a real thing?

Ever feel like you are a tight rope walker who will plummet to the ground if you make the wrong step?

It may be a bit drastic but many of us feel a similar feeling of overwhelm when it comes to balance in our lives.

What is the perfect balance? What does it even mean – balance?

Every day in this repeated cycle of vicious sameness. We build our lives on this precedent of what success means, what it means to be happy, what it looks like according to the messages we receive hidden and openly from society. The empty ramblings hidden in all of the voices speaking to us at any given time.

Why karma does not seem to ‘come back around’ to those whom are intentionally hurtful.

Karma tends to be widely misunderstood. Most of us are only taught the ‘eye for an eye’ theory. This very basically instills a Kali or cosmos-fearing mentality that makes us think twice before indulging in a less than loving impulse. What goes around comes around is not always how karma plays it self out. There are many loving reasons for this.

I will start by saying that it is part of being human to be hurtful on occasion, especially when we get triggered. When this happens we sometimes feel the need to defend ourselves against a perceived wrongdoing. When we are in this dark and angry space, love and compassion is the only way for it to heal and turnaround.

If we were to attract more hurt, we could enter a downward spiral and move further away from a positive solution.

5 Ways to Stay Grounded and Connected Living this Thing We Call Life

I am a work in progress … always … and some days are better than others. How about you?

One thing I see a lot in my clients and students, and something I have struggled with in the past myself … is staying connected to spirit … being consistent with my spiritual practice. I have found that for myself, that it is an absolute necessity even though for many years I felt like it was a choice. It’s not, not for me anyway. I soon discovered … that for me …

How to Build Self-Esteem & Overcome Shyness Using This One Technique

When you have high self-esteem and self-confidence you show the world the best version of yourself. Nothing is more important than the way you think and feel about yourself.

In the late 1980s, I did a lot of work in the education field helping teachers and administrators bring self-esteem training to the classroom. If students felt more confident about their abilities, we discovered, they stretched more as students – which improved the learning process by making them less afraid of failure. One byproduct of building confidence and self-esteem is that you tend to be less shy about speaking up, offering your ideas, and showing the world your best self.

“In the storm the lone wolf perishes but the pack will survive” – why community is essential

Don’t worry this blog does not contain spoilers from Game of Thrones season 7 finale but I couldn’t help but be compelled by the sentence in quotes I put in the title. ( fans go and watch it now!!)

Thought it might be interesting to explore some questions this week. They sound easy to answer but I gotta be honest I squirmed when being really honest with my answers.

This past week being the eclipse week has required me to ask myself some very important questions you might like to ponder too.

Forget The Destination, The Gold Is The Journey

The destination means nothing if you don’t appreciate the journey.

Life is a journey, not a destination. You’ve probably heard it before. But, what does it actually mean?

How many times were you asked as a child “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

From an early age you’re thrust into the mind frame of attaining, accomplishing or doing ‘something.’ Trying to be somebody. Wanting to go somewhere. Working hard to make something of your life. You get so focused on what you want to be, where you want to go, or what you want to do that you see where you are – right here, right now – as just a stepping stone; a necessary requirement for your desired result.

One Way to Live Your Higher Self Every Day

What is your Higher Self?

For me it’s my Best Self, who I truly want to be, fulfilling all of my available potential. Of course, as it serves me.

Along my Spiritual path, I have come to believe – and want to promote – some very high-level, all embracing values I honour. They are my chosen foundation.

The pop quiz every day is: how do I manifest those values in my everyday life? A tough standard to meet. It’s like building a brick wall, with me making and placing every brick. These are the values I espouse - am I living them?
