It's easy to forget that we are all perfect in our own design. Sometimes we muck it up with habits and choices that do not serve us.

What It Means to Walk In Your Power

Throughout life, I’ve been told a few times that I don’t fully own and walk in my power.

I’ll be the first to raise my hand and admit they are right. I know it’s there. I see it come to life through me from time to time, but I don’t always own it. I’ve been guilty of knowingly and unknowingly dimming myself. I’ve done it to fit in, I've done it to be liked, and I've done it to be loved. I’ve also dimmed my power because I’m uncomfortable with it. At times I find myself afraid of the power I possess.

Can There Be a Science of Consciousness?

Although it takes place outside the headlines, even those that deal with science, a heated debate is occurring about mind and matter. On one side is a camp of so-called physicalists, formerly known as materialists, who hold fast to the assumption that any and all phenomena in nature can be reduced to physical processes, namely the forces and the interaction between objects (atoms, subatomic or elementary particles, etc.) -- these are the building blocks of the universe. On the other side is no single camp but a mixed assortment of skeptics who hold that at least one natural phenomenon--the human mind--cannot be explained physically through such methods.

To Manifest Your Desires - Rewrite Your Past To Manifest!

When you think about your past, what  makes the old you that lived your old story and your memory of the experiences come alive? Do certain smells trigger a memory? What about music? A song can remind you of a moment in time where you were changed forever. But were you frozen in time? Do you still tell the old story the same way?

The Evolving Cosmos: Is Reality Getting Any Closer

Science is the modern authority for telling us what’s real, using verifiable facts to prove its theories. Over the last century many facts have emerged about the nature of the universe, and since we know we live in an evolving universe since the big bang occurred 13.8 billion years ago, naturally scientific knowledge has evolved. But strangely enough, this hasn’t brought reality any closer. The mysteries of the universe were expected to be solved by looking closer and closer at phenomena “out there” beyond Earth, “at smallest scales" as we probe within the matter, and then reality pulled a number of baffling tricks that brought everything into question.

Amazing Grace—Africa’s Animals

I noticed it first in the elephants. From the safari jeep, we saw them in the near distance, walking through the South African bush. Their movement was steady, serene, focused—moving forward with purpose and utmost clarity, undeterred by distraction. They embodied grace in a way I had never seen before, a grace that filled them and emanated forth from them. They were living their unique beingness on Earth, fully and completely, and with a simple beauty that made my breath catch in my throat and tears fill my eyes when I looked at them. It was God’s grace and presence I was witnessing—it filled them so sweetly and divinely. That is the way we were all meant to walk upon this Earth.

How Does Something Come Out of Nothing? A Cosmic Tale

The question of where the universe came from isn’t solved by pointing to the big bang, because this begs the question of where it came from. In physics creation is often dubbed “something out of nothing,” meaning that the entire observable cosmos emerged from a pre-created state that is devoid of the familiar landmarks of reality: time, space, matter and energy. The boundary between this “something” all around us and that “nothing” that is also present but undetectable has fascinated physics in recent decades. It’s a fascination we should all share if we want to know where creation came from.

Time Passing, Time Standing Still

At times, it seems that our lives are moving so fast that we can’t catch our breath. At other times, it can seem that we are stuck, that time is standing still. Yet, past, present, future; birth, life, death; and time itself are all mental concepts, distinctions that we humans invent and superimpose on the world as we try to make sense of it. Beyond the mind’s created parameters is eternity. Occasionally, we touch it with fleeting awareness: In moments of great love or great loss, the mental boundaries fall away, and there is just presence without beginning or end. The deeper we live into life, the more we open to this perception.

An Omen From God

The subject line of the email was “An omen from God.”

It was from my brother Bobby, who was in Morocco for a board meeting of the organization ONE and (Red), which he co-founded with Bono. ONE and (Red) both work to save lives. Saving lives has, in fact, been my brother’s life’s work. (It has actually been the life’s work of all of my brothers — Timothy as chairman of the Special Olympics International, Mark as president of the Save the Children Action Network, and Anthony as the founder and chairman of Best Buddies. But today, this story is about Bobby.)

Now Is the Moment to Make Your Voice Heard

What do speaking up, showing up, standing up for what you believe in, and giving hugs all have in common?

Turns out a lot.

This past week, I joined thousands of other Alzheimer’s advocates in Washington D.C. for the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Advocacy Forum. These men and women came from all over the country to knock on the doors of their elected officials and let their voices be heard.

Interrupted BBC Interview - Just roll with it (pun intended)

Did you see the interview on BBC with the professor whose kids came wandering in the door behind him? What a great demonstration of things don't always go as we plan. So how do you handle it? We are trained that things have to be "professional" and perfect. It is true that we don't want distractions, but sometimes life offers us them anyways. So...roll with it (pun intended).

6 Ways to Regain Your Financial Power

Why do we give away our personal power over to money? So many of us in this world are trapped by our lifestyles and the debt we chose to take on. All this does is keep us in a cycle that is never ending, a cycle that completely disempowers us from the greatness that we are and came here to be.

When Life Throws You a Curveball, Do This

“I am ready to come out of the woods and to shine a light on what’s already happening around kitchen tables.”

That’s what Hillary Clinton said last Friday night at a St. Patrick’s Day gathering in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Clinton said she was ready to come out of the woods after some time away from the spotlight. (A young woman famously posted a photograph of Mrs. Clinton literally walking in the woods days after the election.)

Put Your Well-being First Because it’s Who You Are

As Abraham Hicks say, “Your happiness is the single most important thing in your life.” This might sound selfish or like an ego-centric statement, but when you look at the meaning that supports it, it makes a lot of sense. If you’re not happy, what’s the point? Typically most are not motivated by sadness, anger or boredom. It’s hard to preserve self-joy and happiness. Certainly we can all agree that the world is a much better place with your smile and your happiness! Because joy is a state we live in and not a spur of the moment feeling, it merits some introspection right? If we’re not feeding our joy center, how can we love others optimally? How can we teach love if we don’t have a full reserve of love for ourselves? What makes you calm? Smile and daydream? What makes your lungs want to breath in deeper? What do your hands long to touch? What is your soul primed for? Clearly I can only answer those questions for myself. However I encourage you to attempt them for yourself. Why? Because your happiness makes the world a better place.

Here We All Are

A woman came in to see me up in New Hampshire some years ago. She said, “My daughter’s using drugs. I don’t know why I’ve come to see you, but you seem to have an understanding of young people and all that, and the minister said I should come.” It gets very far out. So I said, “Well do come in and sit down. I’m sorry I don’t have a chair, but you can sit on this, I’ll make these cushions higher so you can be more comfortable. I’ll give you this, it’s an interesting tea, it’s made of 17 spices which include…” and I listed them.

The Topics We’re Too Afraid to Talk About

“This ruling makes us look weak, which, by the way, we no longer are.”

Those were the words of Donald Trump on Wednesday after a federal judge in Hawaii put a hold on his new travel ban. (Just hours later, a second federal judge also blocked his executive order.)
