Mindfulness and Stress

Stress happens when a system is out of balance. When something is too loose or too tight, when there is too much rest or too much activity or when there is too much attachment and resistance and not enough flow and allowing, stress is created. Stress can be physical, mental or emotional and is also part of what is called density; unresolved emotional content, experiences and conditioning. It is vibrational, dense and energetic at its core.

Stress causes you to experience overwhelm, anxiety, fear, anger, sadness, inability to cope with crises, relationship issues, medical problems, and job-related issues. When you look into the deepest level of why you accumulate stress you generally find that you are in resistance to life and you are in opposition to feeling certain emotions. Another main cause of stress is your conditioning that causes you to live in an inauthentic, created self, causing dis-connection from your true, authentic Self and dis-connection to people around you.

When you are in resistance to ‘what is’ in your life, when you want life to be different and see it as unacceptable, and when you live in judgment, grasping for life to be different and pushing away what is your current reality, you move from flow, allowing and accepting and move into suffering. When you are in a state of attachment to an outcome other than ‘what is’ you create stress. 

So to manage stress requires moving away from resistance and attachment into allowing and accepting.

Re-orienting your life in this way allows you to create an environment of stress-free living. Stress management moves from a stress by stress management system to an approach, a commitment and a re-conditioning that allows you to exist in a space that dis-allows stress from happening.

Stress is usually created through a process. You become unbalanced and feel dis-connected in some way. You feel dissonant or fearful in your un-connected state. You react to re-balance or change and fix the situation. You resist what is happening and then you push away the feelings or distract yourself. You become attached to a new outcome and in your resistance and attachment you suffer.

By managing stress through mindfulness you can learn to become aware of your reactions, your approach to life and observe your reactions to the causes of stress and to choose how to respond appropriately. Becoming aware of the initial arising of resistance, attachment, overwhelm, agitation, anger, sadness or fear allows you to better manage the process. When you sense the process, you have brought it into conscious awareness and through mindfulness create enough space to not get caught fully by the process that creates stress.

When you find yourself caught up in a stressful situation, move your awareness to the breath. Move back into the present moment enough to create the space that allows awareness and allows the mind to become un-captured by the dissonant energy of the situation.

Move into allowing and acceptance of whatever is happening and release resistance. Move from reacting to responding. Allow yourself to feel what is asking for your attention internally.

Understand your triggers and see how they set you off. Understand that they are happening as a benefit to you to bring awareness and to bring awakening to you.

Move your body, stretch and breathe deeply. Allow the energy to move on an emotional and physical level. Feel it and watch it. Be the witness to it.

Make friends with what is happening and don’t push it away or resist it.
