It's easy to forget that we are all perfect in our own design. Sometimes we muck it up with habits and choices that do not serve us.
I perform music with 1000’s of kids every year. As a full-time kid’s musician since 1990, if I had to choose one piece of advice for parents, I would say,
“THE BEST THING PARENTS CAN DO FOR THEIR CHILDREN IS BE WORTHY.”
What you can receive from your kids matters more than what you give them.
We often try so hard to give children everything they need that kids are not able to give what they have.
Far and away the best gift you can give your children is to be able to receive all the love they have to give you.
If we want our children to feel loved and grow triumphantly in this world, parents need to allow themselves to be lovable.
A beautiful expression of the generosity of children unfolded on World Peace Day June 19, 2011. It was a bright sunny day. Kids and families were sitting on a grassy hill under large Oak trees ready for my concert.
The kids joined in the fun for the first song, dancing and celebrating life as usual.
The entire field was filled with millions of clovers. I created a challenge to everyone, to see who could find a four leaf clover.
A beautiful child came up to me during the third song and gave me a clover. It was a sweet gift even if the clover only had three leaves. I said Thank You! and tucked it into my guitar strap.
It goes to show how abundant kids are. I might make a four leaf clover “special” and more worthy of love but to kids every clover is lovable and there is an unlimited abundance in giving.
After decades of performing music with kids, I should have been able to predict, all the kids started to give me flowers and clover leaves. I treasured everyone but it was getting hard to finish the song.
I went along with it, by inviting the kids to give them to each other and their parents. Imagine a wave of love rippling through the gathering of friends, family and strangers. A touching chain reaction of kindness. A precious experience.
It made me think, we don’t give kids enough opportunities to give and contribute in our world. They obviously have a lot of Love to give. Kids are Awesome!
I write from observation, not imagination. Most of my writing is one page at a time, with only one to five words per line. You can find a detailed explanation of my writing process in the SoulSpring article How I Wrote Three Thousand Pages Without Trying.
I was inspired by my sister’s grandson to write this page.
There is nothing
Than a Loved Child.
When a human
There is radiance
In an environment
Of love and harmony
Into the love
They already are
Love is natural
Love is beautiful
Love is fully grown
It only needs to be allowed
It is mature
In its being.
